Jalyn Distributing
Manage single family rental properties for owners. Duties including
showing properties, verifying applications, preparing leases, arranging
repairs and posting records. Owners are selling their properties at which
time my position will be eliminated.
1996-2012 Executive Director
HEROS, Inc.
Directed and supervised all research, business, and employee/consultant
activities. Prepared, administered, and oversaw organizational budget.
Acted as client liaison. Interfaced and collaborated with
internationally recognized research consultants. Coordinated and
facilitated worldwide meetings and functions to develop and disseminate
research. Responsible for management of multiple web sites. Oversaw all
aspects of research/evaluation project design, including questionnaire
development, data collection, data entry, and database management.
Additional duties included draft and maintain confidentiality agreements
for sensitive data, grant writing, proposal development, publication of
findings via referred journals, monographs, and technical reports, and

Research Director, Center of Excellence for Research in Basic Skills
Directed the School/Community Partnership Research Unit. The unit
encompassed five longitudinal studies:(1) Effects of Hands-on Science
Programs on Students' Science Achievement, (2) Effect of Multiage
Programs on Student Achievement (3) Longitudinal Effects of Reduced Class
Size on Student Achievement, (4) Evaluation of Reduced Class Sizes on the
Achievement of At-risk Students, (5) Effects of Homework on Student
Achievement. Primary contact with study participants who included public
school students, central administration, principals, and teachers.
Coordinated and facilitated national research conferences. Interfaced
with TSU Sponsored Research to ensure all center research met appropriate
guidelines. Other duties included database management, proposal
development, grant writing, preparing journal articles, monographs,
technical reports, and conference papers. Reported to the center
director.
Co-Principal Investigator and Director of Class Size Studies
Developed procedures and implemented follow-up research studies for
Tennessee's internationally recognized study of class-size, the Student
Teacher Achievement Ratio (STAR) experiment (at that time the largest
randomized experiment in education, Word, et al., 1990). Managed student
database (over 15,000 cases with multiple variables per case), analyzed,
and reported data. Facilitated meetings with staff and researchers from
TSU and other universities. Prepared technical reports. Reported to
center director.
Research Associate, Project STAR
Designed the STAR database and survey questionnaires for the study. Kept
data entry current and implemented processes for data cleaning and
verification. Worked with principal investigators to help extract and
report findings from the database. Reported to principal investigators.
