Ciresi & Morek,
I am the Classification & Compensation Manager at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). I’ve been in management for six years
and we are a team of two. I supervise an hourly position (Human Resources Representative). We service seven campuses and over 1600
hourly and salaried employees (not including student and faculty positions) so multi-tasking is a part of our daily routine.
There are several qualifications from my career that I can bring to this position. First, I am very analytical. I am responsible for
conducting salary surveys for the colleges and departments at the University, pointing out any possible inequities. After doing so, based
on the decision I’ve made, changes are made, whether it requires adjusting the salary of current employees or monitoring the salary of
future employees. One of my biggest accomplishments in compensation has been the approval by FAU’s Vice President of Financial
Affairs to implement a pay plan I created for our hourly employees. I managed to create it without any cost to the University for its
Implementation.
Another skill I can bring to the position is that I am a trainer. For the last six years, I’ve facilitated PeopleAdmin, which is
FAU’s position description management system. I’ve trained over 300 employees. At Office Depot’s Corporate Headquarters, I trained
all new employees within the Replenishment Department. I know this is a skill that your position requires. Your position also requires
computer skills that I have. I am proficient in MS Office. As an Associate Pricing Analyst at Office Depot’s Corporate Headquarters,
using complicated Excel formulas, I created competitive prices for National Account Managers to use in order to win business of Fortune
500 companies in the U.S. and Canada.
As for communication skills, I am a published writer and I am currently pursuing a Masters in Communications. It is also one of
my undergraduate minors (graduated with Bachelors in 2009). Communication is very important and essential as a leader and trainer. I’m
a member of Toastmasters International and use the additional skills of leadership and communications learned within this organization
to enhance my skills as an effective communicator. Although I am within the Classifications & Compensation division within Human
resources, I deal with employee relations issues regarding salary and position description structure. I am very trustworthy, which makes
employees very comfortable speaking with me.
If you find my qualifications as a suitable fit for the Human Resources Manager position you are advertising, I would appreciate the
opportunity to speak with you further. I can be reached at (C) 561-***-****.
Best Regards,
Natasha Terry – Ulett
