The following is in application for the position of Estimator, Project
Manager, Contract
Administrator or Sales in the construction industry.
My work experience is as follows:
Upon graduation from high school, I entered the work force at Prassel
Manufacturing Co., which was in the business of manufacturing specialty
millwork, and also had a wholesale building materials operation in San
Antonio. I was first trained as a draftsman's where I worked for several
years, I was then promoted to estimator, where I worked until my leaving.
The last six years I was lead estimator for the Harris County (Houston,
Texas) area. My reason for leaving Prassel Manufacturing Co., I was
offered a job with a large commercial painting contractor in San Antonio,
with a considerable increase in salary and benefits. Prassel Manufacturing
Co. was bought out several years after my departure and was later closed.
I then in 1972 I went to work for L.B. Palmer & Sons where I was hired as
estimator for large commercial painting projects. I worked in this
position for several years, and was then promoted to senior estimator and
was made secretary of the corporation, where I remained until the company
was closed due to the retirement of the owner in 1991.
After taking some time off, I then decided to form my own commercial
painting operation,
Rainbow Painting, Inc in 1993, which I ran until closing the business in
2006 and retired.
Rainbow worked on numerous medium to large commercial projects, with a
workforce that exceeded 30 employees at time. I was the sole owner and
held the position of President
In 2007, Jason Repman of Repman Construction, (Framing and Drywall
Contractor, and light construction) asked me about doing some estimating
for him, which is where I remained until March 1st of 2011. Jason decided
to move back to Midland, Texas where his family had other business and
close down the company here in San Antonio.
In March of 2011, I took a position of estimator for Burton Interior
Systems here in San Antonio, (a framing and drywall company) I was one of
two estimators until several months ago, when the other estimator left the
company to pursue another business interest, and I have worked as sole
estimator until this week, when I was told by the owner he wished to take a
different route for the business, and my services would no longer be
needed.
I have been active in several trade organizations during my years in the
San Antonio construction industry. I was a board member of the Builders
Exchange of Texas, and a Past president of the San Antonio Subcontractors
Association.
I also served in the Texas Air National Guard for eight years, (1953
-1961).
