Selected Accomplishments
Safety- STOP, Safe Start, ergonomics, root cause analysis and incident investigation, behavior management are all tools that I use to drive a safe workplace. An example of success is TIR from 5.0 to Zero. Proudly boast that I oversaw this operation exceed 475 days without incident. HSE compliance (ISO14001) is a top priority of mine, and should be of the organization as well.
Quality- Recipient of Leading Edge Award for zero findings during FAA ASCEP audits. Directed improvements in first pass quality by developing work instructions, standard work, work combination tables, SPC, self and successive inspection. My approach is mindful that inspection is needed and should be done at the value added operation. Familiar with ISO 9000, 9001 and 16949
Production- Focusing on thru put and constraint operations, achievement’s such as 95% increase in pounds per manhour (218 to 423), producing and shipping equal quantities year over year at 10% less cost. Eliminated a production backlog by holding kaizen events systematically across operations. Reduced required production time from 24/7 to 24/5 which allowed for SMED improvements and TPM performance. Developed one piece flow processes, decoupled other operations creating grocery stores for capacity improvements and production smoothing. Understanding that the factory floor leadership team is critical to success, I transferred my knowledge and experience so that flow, inventory, 5s and wastes were visual and easily addressed. All project management was completed using the team approach. Able to lead in supervision and manager level. Gemba is the management style I teach.
Delivery- Production schedule attainment reduced expedites costs by $375,000 over a 6-month period. Utilizing a truck preparation area, staging of shipments were visual and achieved via a kanban pull system.
Lean- Trained by Universities of Tennessee and Michigan, I have been able to install kanban systems, identify and eliminate waste, improve quality, reduce lead times, reduce costs through kaizen and have a proven track record for success. Use lean metrics to monitor organizational success.
Leadership- I have been a leader since my tenure as a Sergeant in the USAF and have progressed as a Production Supervisor, Production Manager, and Operations Manager. I enjoy the rush of cultural shifts, responsibility of organizational success and the lessons learned from pitfalls. Can lead and hold accountable my peers, direct reports and the hourly workforce. Able to document and review employee performance. Able to interview, hire, counsel, rehabilitate and terminate team members when needed.
