To obtain a position where my chemical experience, problem-solving
skills and Spanish language will improve your company.
Education
Rockhurst University
- Bachelors of Science-December 2008

Work experience
Analytical Laboratory Specialist, [March 2010-Present]
Mars Petcare US, Kansas City, Missouri
Analytical Test Methods
Analyzed the Wet Chemistry on raw and finished products.
- Obtained the amount of crude fat by acid fat
hydrolysis and ether fat extraction. Headed a project using new Soxtec
automatic ether fat extractors in which helped advance this test method
from manual extractors to automatic evaluation allowing technician to be
more available.
- Analyzed pet care products by a variety of
methods including moisture by oven and vacuum, Karl Fischer Moisture,
TGA (Thermogravimetric Analyzer) ash, water activity, pH, and the
concentration of salt and chloride. Headed a project using Quartz fiber
crucibles which helped advance the ash test method from a seven hour
process to a twenty minute evaluation.
- Determined the degree of gelatinization of extruded products and had
the ability to work with a Dextrose analyzer (YSI) including troubleshooting
and maintenance.
- Determined the rancidity of products through
peroxide value (PV) and the percent of free fatty acids. Also assisted with
initial development of new PV UV-Vis method.
- Accessed mycotoxin operations including aflatoxin
by NeoColumn and vomitoxin.
- Determined amount of protein by LECO TruSpec
N. Developed a project using a larger sample size for more accurate
results. LECO required daily maintenance and troubleshooting. Developed
and Validated a new method for TruMac nitrogen analyzer.
- Perform routine mineral analysis and necessary
maintenance via ICP. Developed new method for mineral analysis for more
reliable results.
- Assisted in sample preparation, method varied
depending on sample size. Created and maintained log/calibration books.
Assisted in the revision of methods, SOPs and CAPAs.
