Multi - unit, 24/7 human resources responsibility across three business
units: Generation, (coal fired power plants), Energy Delivery, and Customer
Service. Actively provide human resources expertise to clients and
recommend solutions to improve business unit performance. Key deliverables
and areas of focus include:
Business Unit Partner
. Provide counseling to management on employee development, training,
workforce planning, staffing, discipline, terminations, and corrective
actions.
. Created Structured Absence Monitoring to decrease absenteeism and
manage absences.
. Partner with clients around change management initiatives
. Ensure consistent application of policies/ procedures and compliance
with all laws/statues regulating the employment relationship.
. Actively participate and represent HR at Business Unit staff, safety &

. Write development plans for top performers containing learning
activities and competencies.
. Identify training opportunities and create training for delivery to

. Hold employee meetings as requested to address specific concerns or
identify opportunities to improve items such as culture, trust,
efficiency, and safety.
. Manage performance evaluation process and assist leaders with creation
of goals and competencies
Employee Advocate/Labor Relations
. Active in grievance and arbitration hearings. Draft grievance
responses to the union.
. Counsel employees to improve or correct performance issues and
deficiencies.
. Lead investigations into employee issues/complaints and advise on
resolutions
. Actively involved in labor contract and wage negotiations, and
arbitrations
. Promote positive union relations by developing strong working
relationship with union stewards.
. Work with management to decide on level of discipline and draft
disciplinary, suspension, and termination letters
Recruiting/Staffing
. Recruit for both difficult to fill exempt roles and skilled non exempt
positions
. Administer pre-employment EEI tests, utilize applicant tracking
system, interview job applicants, and make hiring recommendations.
. Complete Affirmative Action Plans for assigned locations.
Recruiter I, Aug. 2004 - Oct. 2007, Columbus, Ohio
Staffed hundreds of positions to support billion dollar plant retrofit/new
build projects. Recruited for exempt positions in engineering,
construction, business services, project management, and legal. Developed
strong, strategic working relationships with all levels of management on
recruiting process, market analysis, and candidate placement. Advised
management on best practices, candidate selection, diversity, compensation,
and market trends. Developed strong negotiation skills with candidates with
niche skill sets. Identified new candidate sourcing opportunities to
increase diversity applicant pool.

Worked with all levels of the organization to perform staffing related

Managed full cycle selection process for two distribution centers during a
high volume production season. Performed testing and interviewing of
applicants to identify skill sets and placement options. Made all final
hiring decisions, administered new hire paperwork and conducted background
checks. Hired 250 employees for the distribution centers.

Created HR manual, that included recruitment and selection plan,
performance evaluation process, correction action procedure, rewards and
incentives, position descriptions, and career paths. Hired all internal
positions, calculated labor budget, and gave input on allocation of funds.
Created the Entrepreneurial Internship Program. Developed recruitment
network to gain top quality MBA students. Conducted initial interviews,
determined pay rates, and created applications. Developed process for
