Manufacturing
During a cement manufacturing project in El Salvador for HOLCIM, LTD, among
my responsibilities, was the coordination of shipping in equipment and
supplies from different countries and manufacturing facilities, including
introduction to the country managing its importing process in a way to
minimize the financial impact in taxes. Within manufacturing I have ensured
the end to end logistics integration with external and internal clients, as
well as vendors and service providers. Importing raw materials as well as
capital equipments from different vendors and countries; exporting finished
goods to customers' specifications and locations, as well as coordinating
with local vendors and service providers to ensure production needs.
Establishing New Operations
As a manager I have worked closely in developing organizations,
establishing process and procedures, as well as mentoring employees towards
changes in working culture. With HOLCIM, LTD participated on a union
decertification process working with ex employees into becoming legal
companies as to offer their services as outsourced contractors. I was one
of the initial members working for American Airlines at its Tulsa Oklahoma
maintenance base introducing what eventually became an extremely successful
employee suggestion program, The IdeAAs in Action Program.
Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
As part of establishing organizations, process and procedures I have
introduced best practices such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
principles even within companies that are not certified; turning
organizations from being part of the problem, into part of the solution.
