Project Type: Reducing process waste & Cost controlling project

Description: This is a continuous project for reducing scrap in battery plate making process. Identifying

& measuring scrap generation level, locate the spot which will produce the scrap. Analyzing

by man, material, machine & methodology problems and solving the problems by

statistically. This has to continuously monitor.

My contribution:

Studying & analyzing the scrap data, applying SPC concepts & CP/Cpk Calculation.

Implementing the alternative act which will reduce the scrap

components designing. The battery components are developed based on international

standards, new technology & compact components. Maintenance free battery container and

cover has to develop such way that acid spill proof and easy handling. And also to develop

supporting tools to make maintenance free batteries like heat sealing mold, Air pressure

testing tools and its features.

Project Type To improve electrical performance of case formed batteries by optimized charging cycle in

order to de-bottleneck process.

Description Study was undertaken in formation to perceive the improvement in electrical performance

of batteries through case formation against boost charging (dry charged batteries).

My contribution

Designing charging protocols & conducting trial experiments.

Testing & evaluating the new experimented charging protocols

Was proven there is an improvement of overall quality of battery. This is visible in terms of

2.75% increase in actual SAE CCA, 7.9% midtronics CCA value and improved self life of

battery.
