skills in manufacturing engineering/controls.
. Key role as primary engineer for boxing operations for a major
lean manufacturing transformation. Developed a new method for system-
to-box packing (patent applied but rejected) that led to significant
capital savings and further reliability and capability savings.
. Developed new methods for in-process reclamation of systems.
Designed and built a "lean" work cell that resulted in headcount
reduction and cycle time savings. Project was chosen among 13
corporate-wide entries to represent Dell in the 2007 National
Ergonomics Conference as an engineer-driven solution.
. Led multiple projects and lean kaizens including materials flow
improvements, work-cell replenishment cycle time improvements, chassis
loading capacity additions, and boxing process reductions (reclaim
plant floor space)
. Served on key cross functional teams implementing process changes
and continuous improvements at other Dell Mfg. sites including a
kitting process redesign and packaging improvements for manufacturing
processes.
Automation Technologies, Inc. - Harrisburg, NC 2/98 - 6/05
Automation Engineer

designing, scope creation, engineering, and programming. Most projects
followed cGMP Lifecycle requirements. Worked with pharmaceutical and
chemical customers to fulfill FDA validation requirements with project
documentation and process startups. Key accomplishments:
. Developed filter/dryer control systems that reduced cost and
development time and provided significant savings by using off-the-
shelf components and reducing process variations.
. Developed a data logging system that enhanced quality control for
a thin film manufacturer.
. Implemented an extruder control system that provided reduced
process variation and quality benefits.
Rosenmund, Inc. - Charlotte, NC 5/96 - 2/98
Controls & Automation Engineer
Design pharmaceutical and chemical OEM equipment automation systems. Duties
included project management, PLC programming, SCADA and O/I development,
electrical schematics development, and field startups. Many applications
were "hazardous area" and required intrinsically safe controls design. Key
accomplishments:
. Developed gas recirculation system controls that provided reduced
downtime and increased process stability.
. Implemented filter and dryer control systems for pharmaceutical
clients. Enabled clients to meet FDA validation requirements by
developing IQ and OQ documentation and performing onsite
commissioning.

RESUME ADDENDUM
PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
I have managed many projects, both large and small throughout most of my
professional career. Below are additional comments on my experience deeper
than what is conveyed on my resume.
Companies and Roles:
Independent Systems Service - solutions provider of industrial
automation systems. Role - co-owner, manager, engineer
Penta Engineering - full service engineering firm. Role - project
manager, automation engineer
Rosenmund, Inc - process equipment manufacturer. Role - project
manager, automation engineer
Automation Technologies - solutions provider of industrial automation
systems. Role - project manager, automation engineer
Dell - Manufacturer & solutions provider. Role - process engineer,
project manager, program manager
Project Management Experience:
. Project Cycles - Experience in all levels of project cycles from
selling, business case development, budgeting, planning, scoping,
delivering, commissioning and sustaining.
. Tools - Familiarity with MS Project, Excel and most any tool used to
manage project activities and schedules
. Documentation - Experience generating most typical project
documentation such as service agreements, contracts, business cases,
functional specifications, testing documentation, etc.
. Managing projects - experience managing all process groups -
Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing.
I know how to get projects completed on-time and on-budget. I have
extensive experience driving issue resolution, addressing schedule
slips, managing project teams, etc. I have worked successfully in
high-pressure, fast-paced roles and understand what is expected when
issues arise and need to be addressed.
. Commissioning and Startup - Commissioning is a huge part of a project.
I've spent a year or two of my life being out-of-town on jobsites
performing startup and commissioning services for clients.
. Lifecycle - I have systems validation and cGMP Lifecycle experience.
This is a change management process that helps control and manage
changes in the lifecycle of processes and products. It is common in
the pharmaceutical and chemical industries and is a document-intensive
program.
Entrepreneurship:
I co-owned my own industrial automation solutions company for about 4
years. We were a full turnkey solutions provider. That experience taught
me valuable lessons that have served me well in my career:
. Cost matters. When it is your own money, you are more measured and
controlled in your actions. You understand what is wasteful and what
is not and how all decisions affect the bottom line.
. Time Management. I manage my time more efficiently because I know
that my "man-hours" have a cost to the company I am working for.
. Flexibility. You wear many hats when you own a small company,
therefore you must be agile and support many roles. I managed all
company operations. I also generated new business, closed sales,
scoped and designed automation projects, managed project budgets,
managed contractors, managed direct reports, performed admin
functions, etc.
