career, he has worked for Financial- Insurance, Telecom and Graphics
related Software Product companies within various units like Risk
Management and R&D. He has designed and deployed diverse set of high
performance software applications and frameworks applying object oriented
design principles and patterns using languages like Java and C++. Currently
he is working at CNA Financial which is a Fortune 500 insurance company.
His primary responsibilities include designing and building pricing and
risk-management quantitative applications to calculate pricing and risk
based on mathematical/statistical models developed by Quants/Actuaries for
different business units like Large Property, Casualty and Reinsurance.
As a part of his MBA program he has completed courses in Risk
Management, Advanced Derivatives & Pricing, Econometrics and
Macroeconomics. His final project for Econometrics course consisted of
building a quantitative alpha macro-economic (Regression & Simultaneous)
model using STATA with the goal of interpreting effects of statistically
significant financial and economic factors (Time-series) which influenced
the S&P500 index. He has also implemented options pricing models in Java
using Monte Carlo and Finite difference methods.

and complex business problems.
- Design and implement quantitative pricing and risk-analysis models
designed by Quants/Actuaries belonging to various risk-management
groups for various lines.
- Participate in the development, specification and communication of the
firm's technology architecture plan, the infrastructure components
required to support it, and in the integration of corporate and
business area architectures.
- Provide guidance to others informally and formally and lead teams from

Modules Designed and Implemented:
Risk Analysis Pricing Information Decision (RAPID) is an enterprise
application for Large Property business unit to capture and process
location information, manage account information, rate and calculate
premiums for accounts with excess of 100 million dollars of insured
value.
The application was developed using J2EE WebSphere server and JAVA Swing
client.
. Catastrophe modeling module: Implemented and maintained quantitative
risk models for Fire, Wind, Earthquake, Flood and Terrorism risks.
These models used policy deductibles/limits and geographical
characteristics of the locations to calculate catastrophe risk for a
given account. Server design incorporated simultaneous processing of
multiple jobs each capable of analyzing and data-mining information
for two to three million plus locations based on 500 plus rules.
. Integration of MS-Excel/VBA based statistical Rating engine with
versioning capabilities within RAPID to allow underwriters to
calculate premiums for Large Property policies.
. Address broker server: Scalable and robust JAVA server (Threading and
Queuing mechanism utilized) capable of processing thousands of
locations simultaneously at real-time for multiple clients. The server
enhanced a location based on the user request by retrieving or
calculating various attributes related to geocoding, earthquake,
flood, terrorism, taxes, etc.
. Location intelligence solution which incorporated RMS flood and soil
data and introduced sophisticated set of visual tools to allow the
underwriters to perform advanced and detailed data analysis.
. Designed and developed Java/C++ based quantitative pricing framework
for calculating premiums, losses for various lines of business for
Smart-Writer, which was the primary underwriting application for CNA
Reinsurance business unit.
Neumark Technology Group - U.S.A.
Designation: Senior Managing Consultant May 1998 - Jan 2002
Roles and responsibilities:
- Lead and directed multiple teams from inception to deployment for the
modules described in the section below.
- As the Architecture lead, set the technical direction and standards
for all the software development within the risk management group.
Researched and evaluated new and/or alternative solutions and
technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs.
Modules Designed and Implemented:
Unified Pricing System was a large integrated system for analyzing risks
and developing prices for all of casualty and claims related services
offered by Risk Management organization of a large insurance institution.
The system completely automated and added more rigor and oversight to the
pricing and work flow process of around 40 to 70 underwriters.
Casualty pricing module: The casualty module of the system captured a
customer's historical exposure and loss experience in order to project
future losses. The captured and developed information was then used to
create multiple insurance and related services alternatives.
Claims pricing module: This module was a configurable pricing engine used
to price and calculate various claims services taking into account loss
history, claim counts and splits.
. Designed and developed multiple Java based Visibroker-ORB servers from
the ground up to manage the business and persistence mechanism.
Critical requirements like server memory management, data integrity
via object locking, inter-server communication, client cleanup via
heart-beat mechanism were developed.
. Designed and implemented a critical security framework which was
extensible so that it could be adapted by any server or client within
the UPS domain. The framework utilized Visibroker-ORB interceptor
mechanism.
Corel/WordPerfect Corporation - Canada
Designation: R&D Software January 1996 - April 1998
Engineer
Modules Designed and Implemented:
. Developed a graphics engine based on various mathematical equations
with a diverse set of API capable of rendering complex 2D shapes with
a wide range of complex attributes, fills and colors.
. Primary developer of the new Java-based WWW graphics publishing
technology know as "Barista". This technology enabled users to publish
documents directly as web pages while retaining all the graphics, text
and tables formatting information to get WYSIWYG documents on the Web,
thereby overcoming limitations of HTML. This technology was
incorporated in leading word processing (WordPerfect) and graphics
applications suites (Corel-draw, Ventura, etc) and used as a major
marketing tool during the new release of the office suite.
Blue Star InfoTech - India

Modules Designed and Implemented:
. Designed and developed EPBAX Traffic Analysis Application using
Microsoft Visual C++ and Windows SDK which integrated with the MD 110
PBX from Ericsson. The software would analyze the call data at real
time to provide critical traffic information such as total traffic,
total calls, average call length, etc. as well as operator performance
data such as average speed of answer, average talk time, etc.
. Researched and developed a Terminate and Stay program on DOS platform
