Consultant to a large health insurer as a project controller.
Responsibilities include the development of forecast expenditures on
numerous IT projects with a combined annual spend of approximately $400m.
Role requires close interaction with department heads, project managers
and other stakeholders to finalize current- and five-year forecasts,
annual plan and other interim targets. Provide insightful variance
analysis of actual results against projections. Recommend and implement
process improvements to increase unit effectiveness.
Ability Resources, Inc., Framingham, MA (2007 to 2012)
VP & Controller of this LTC start-up insurer with an invested asset base
of over $1 billion. Responsible over domestic U.S. and Bermuda insurance
company statutory and consolidated corporate reporting based on generally
accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Also responsible for other
corporate financial functions to include investment accounting, liquidity
management, investment guideline compliance, risk management, external
reinsurance audits and the corporate audit.
Significant Accomplishments:
Designed the GAAP reporting system and accounting consolidation process of
the U.S. and Bermudian parent holding companies. Presided over the
process to convert accounting functions to SunGard's EAS system.
With CFO, established investment guidelines to ensure compliance to
statutory regulations of multiple jurisdictions, and with the lead
investment manager, established and maintained controls to ensure
investment guideline compliance.
Developed corporate wide liquidity process and variance analysis designed
to optimize investment portfolio returns and influence intra company
funding methods. e.g., debt vs. equity.
Assisted with the design of a corporate risk management matrix utilizing
Six Sigma tools. Also responsible for the placement of corporate
insurance coverages.
Established reinsurance client audit programs to include Six Sigma

Financial Head of the LTC business segment of an insurance company
affiliate primarily responsible for all financial reinsurance processes of

Also earned Six Sigma Black Belt certification with a two-plus year stint
within the GE Quality organization.

Partnered with the LTC business leader to develop LTC business strategies
including new business and exit tactics.

functions.
Significant Accomplishments:
Led the role to develop with management sound business strategies and

Provided an additional source of working capital by successfully
negotiating a revolving line of credit within the banking sector. Also
responsible for all foreign exchange activities including exposure

Treasury Director, Aetna Health Plans-Reporting to the divisional Vice
President & Controller of this national health-care insurer with revenues
in excess of $7.5 billion. Primarily responsible for the review,
establishment and maintenance of sound cash management practices, bank
relations and risk management throughout the division. Also responsible
for the liquidity, surplus and debt management of approximately 25
health-care subsidiaries. Led or participated with varied financial
consulting projects that reaped material benefits.
Significant Accomplishments:
Launched the AHP treasury group at the request of senior management to
ensure divisional cash resources are optimized.
Reorganized treasury field operations to realize synergy while reducing
operational costs.

Instituted a capital management program at the subsidiary level, which

Investment Operations Manager-Responsible for unit operations specialized
in short-term securities settlement functions with annual transaction
volume approximating $1 trillion. Worked closely with portfolio traders
to resolve settlement issues. Provided accounting and reporting services
in support of corporate money-market mutual funds. Also directed the
settlement and accounting functions of the corporate foreign hedge unit.
Provided FX trader performance reporting and assisted with efforts to
quantify the corporation's foreign exposures.
Significant Accomplishments:
Developed a system with our lead custodial bank to automate the majority
of the security settlement transactions that extended the trading day and
increased unit productivity.

Administrator)
Controller / Senior Administrator-Acted as the Controller of an Aetna
subsidiary dedicated to the operations of its oil and gas ventures and
Controller of a subsidiary involved with a leased semi-submersible
drilling platform. Responsible for all general ledger accounting
