PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Employer: Dick’s Sporting Goods
Position: Apparel Associate
Description: As a member of the apparel team at Dick’s Sporting Goods it was my responsibility to ensure
that any section containing apparel was organized and displayed in a clean manner. Apparel at Dick’s
takes up about 75% of the store so it was made clear to me when I accepted the position that I held a
major responsibility. In addition to keeping all apparel areas and items clean and organized, I checked
fitting rooms on a regular basis to make sure it was kept clean and clutter free for each customer who
tried on any apparel item. Also, on a regular basis I went up to the front of the store to make sure all
returns were picked up and taken back to their proper place. While doing so, I put all tables and racks
with apparel items on them in size and color order. Customer education was also a big part of my job at
Dick’s. As an apparel team member you must have a plethora of knowledge on location of items, sizes
and colors available in a certain item, and sales that were going on at that time. At Dick’s we always
worked as a team whether it was our dept. or not to take care of. I learned there that no matter what it
might be, you help make each and every customer’s day better but getting them what they need and
offering exceptional service.
Employer: United States Navy
Position: Hospital Corpsman
Description: As a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy I held many responsibilities as a caregiver
to various types of patients. Most of the time, I was assigned to the OB/GYN department due to the fact
that my leaders saw how passionate I was about women’s health and their pregnancies. My main
responsibilities within the OB/GYN field were to assist in ultrasounds, removal and insertion of Mirena,
Paraguard and Implanon, Bi-Manual exams, Endometrial biopsies, pap smears, giving shots and inserting
IVs as necessary. Independently I was able to perform fetal heart tones, vital signs, making appointments,
answering phones, calling patients back and putting them in the proper room with the proper equipment,
knowing what instruments to have ready for specific procedures and answer the many questions patients
had about procedures we do. I was especially happy to be involved in patient education because I am also
very passionate about education. It is very vital within the OB/GYN field that each patient knows where
to go, what to do and how to go about doing it. Instruments that I am familiar with within an OB/GYN
setting are a tenaculum, various types of forceps, sounds, dilators, retractors, curettes, speculums, biopsy
punches, cytobrushes, and pipettes. Along with these instruments, I am familiar with the use of items such
as different gauze and their sizes, iodine, sterile cups, alcohol, sterile water, sanitizing wipes, formalin,
pap smear solution, fox swabs, etc.
EMPLOYER: Aeropostale Inc.
POSITION: Merchandise Flow and Sales
DESCRIPTION: As a member of the merchandise flow team at Aeropostale Inc., my main
responsibilities were to unload our daily shipments of 100-150 boxes and store them away properly.
Being a part of the merchandise flow team was challenging due to how fast you had to work and the time
you had to do it. I was to ensure that every rack and table within the store was fully stocked and in size
and color order. While doing this, I was also to ensure that I greeted every customer and made sure they
found everything they needed. I informed each customer on sales and specials we had going on at that
time and was more than happy to assist them. In addition to all of this, I worked overnight to help set up
the new styles and displays for the changing season. While this was only a seasonal position, I thoroughly
enjoyed my work and learned a lot from my first job experience.
