clients while serving as managing editor for Indiana SnowRider magazine.

• Improved design and audience-targeted content for Indiana SnowRider magazine, resulting in

increased advertising sales. Magazine grew from a 24-page black-and-white publication to

48 pages in full color.

project highlights

• Designed, coded, and maintained 2013 American Community Garden Association (ACGA)

conference website (www.communitygarden.org/conference), (2013). Designed and

coded entire website, including registration form. Maintained and updated site with fresh content,

provided recommendations and coordinated social media integration to promote the event.

• Design RXOffline user interface, Group Health, (2013). Designed new look and layout for a

multi-screen process used to manage prescription information for pharmacies. Following provided

technical requirements and use cases, created wireframes for all screens, and coded html pages.

Provided usability recommendations for some revisions to task flow that were implemented.

• Identity and branding package for Joyous Births (www.joyousbirths.com), (2012).

Developing complete identity package consisting of logo design, business card, letterhead, enve-

lope, promotional brochure, and website for a start-up doula (birth coach) business.

• Keyword analysis, Federal Student Aid website (studentaid.ed.gov), (2012). Worked in

collaboration to improve search engine optimization. Conducted keyword research and developed

recommendations for more cost-effective AdWords campaigns using “long-tail” phrases, and

determined which topics should be added to content or expanded to improve organic search results.

• Books (over 50 titles; soft cover and hard cover/dust jackets), Sapientia Press (2003–present).

Design and layout of four-color covers and interior pages. Also provide promotional materials

for these publications such as book catalogues, magazine advertisements, and flyers. Optimize

book cover images for use in web promotions.

• Instructional materials, Project START, The Bridging Group

(www.effectiveinterventions.org/en/HighimpactPrevention/interventions/

ProjectstARt.aspx), (2009). Designed full-color digitally printed curriculum for a CDC-

funded HIV prevention and life-skills program for ex-offenders. Produced a design sample to

establish style guidelines used consistently throughout. Created final templates based on design

sample and completed layout of trainers’ manual, curriculum, visual aids, activity worksheets, and

promotional brochure.

• Instructional materials, Cuídate! HIV-Prevention for Latino Youth (English and Spanish),

UM School of Nursing (www.selectmedia.org/programs/cuidate.html), (2008).

Designed full-color digitally printed CDC-funded curriculum. Produced a design sample to

establish style guidelines used consistently throughout. Created final templates and completed

layout of trainers’ manual, curriculum, and activity components (including posters and visual

aids, activity cards and game pieces), flyers, and a promotional brochure.

• Instructional materials, Catholic Faith Explorers (www.ignatius.com/promotions/cfe/

index.htm), (2003–2004). Developed complete identity including logo and consistent branding

for a series of seven adult-learning courses. Project included course booklets, leader guides,

PowerPoint overheads, and marketing materials such as ads, flyers, and brochures.

• Centennial commemorative materials, Goetzcraft Printing, 2000. Designed and produced a

commemorative booklet, event invitation, and banner to mark the 100th anniversary for printing

company. Design elements were developed to convey various time periods from 1900 to present.

Vintage photographs and memorabilia from the company’s history were also integrated throughout.

• Campaign marketing materials, United Way of Washtenaw County, 1999. Designed and

produced audience-specific brochures, coordinator and solicitor guide booklets, print advertising,

and campaign website using consistent branding based on the concept of “building a rainbow.”

Website included an animation that used the rainbow element from the logo being built on page

load to convey updates of money raised.

• 50-year anniversary commemorative hardcover book, American Board of Thoracic Surgery

Society, 1998. Book featured gold-foil-embossed leather cover, two-color interior pages with

duotones combining gold metallic and black inks, and some full-color pages. All full-color

pages were printed on the same signatures to save printing costs. Snippets from the organization’s

historical timeline appear consecutively throughout so that highlights of the organization’s

history can be viewed at-a-glance.

• Marketing materials, Goetzcraft Printing, 1998. Designed and produced full-color marketing

brochure and project folder with consistent branding for use as leave-behinds for initial sales visits.

• Offset-fold trade show marketing brochure, Teraphim, 1997. Designed logo and promotional

pieces for a line of custom jewelry intended for distribution at trade shows. Involved intensive

image editing in Photoshop, drawing intricate clipping paths to drop out the background from

each product shot, and creating background textures for final composite layout of all jewelry

pieces. Brochure featured an offset fold to accommodate viewing both color options and

available styles simultaneously.
