Work Experience
Project Engineer at Geometric Americas Inc working on a project as
Manufacturing Engineer at John Deere, Davenport, IA (Sep2011-Current)
• Kitting to create floor space and an efficient workstation resulting in increase in throughput
• Validating cycle times at each station for better line balancing and for better response to
process variability
• Working with process engineers to develop efficient and safe work standards for the operators
• Continuous process improvements at each station to reduce setup times, ergonomic issues
and defects utilizing lean tools like DMAIC, 5S, Value stream mapping and kaizen events
• Documenting the process improvements made for future reference
Manufacturing Engineer- Case New Holland, Wichita, KS (April 2011- Aug 2011)
• Performed time studies on their assembly line
• Performed time and motion studies and identified value added and non value added activities
on their manufacturing process
• Identified the root causes for the non value added activities in the weld area and eliminated them
with continuous improvement project with an annual cot saving of $250,000
• Worked on ‘5S project’ where lean 5S was applied in the weld area to achieve WCM status
• Helped in completing cost deployment project for the weld area
Graduate Research Assistant- Industrial & Manufacturing Department, WSU (Feb 2011- April
2011)
• Assisted Dr. Larry Whitman in research on ‘Lean Manufacturing’
Manufacturing Engineer Intern- Omni Aerospace Wichita, KS (Sep 2010- Feb 2011)
• Performed time studies on their manufacturing process
• Drew value stream maps of their production process and reduced waste using Kaizen events
and had a cost savings of $20,000
• Documented steps for making Power Management Units (PMU) for cars
• Suggested and implemented lean improvements in their manufacturing techniques mainly to
reduce their cycle times and lead times
• Developed an IDEF0 model on “How to implement 5S in their shop floor”
Projects
Training techniques to improve rater-reliability- Master’s Thesis (Aug 2011)
• The current 5S checklist commonly used is giving unreliable results when used for assessment
• Modified the existing checkpoints for better understanding
• Developed training techniques on how to rate an audit checklist
• Conducted case studies with the new checklist and training techniques
• Analyzed the results
Fixture for manufacturing steam turbine blades- Senior Project (May 2008)
• Developed and manufactured a Fixture useful for manufacturing steam turbine blades using
design software (IDEAS)
Lean 5S in shop floor- Master’s class project (Jan 2010)
• Analyzed the prevailing conditions at NAIR (National Institute for Aviation Research, Wichita)
Strain Gauge department and implemented lean 5S techniques to improve the working conditions
