IRT - Oracle DBA/ Task Lead - September 2012 - Present

Ms. Malen performs task lead duties as well as Oracle database

administration support for production databases. As part of her

responsibilities she monitors databases, performs exports/imports as

needed, and backups databases, data models of existing database to

denormalize data, responds to requests from customer and developers. As

Task Lead manages two projects, tasks teams members for the customer in a

small team environment; produces and keeps up-to-date project plans;

produces executive summaries, statement of delivery and monthly reports to

customer.. She is also responsible for Unix Servers as system

administrator. Current contract is coming to end in March 2013.

Northrop Grumman - Database Engineer June 2012 - September 2012

Ms. Malen performs database administration duties in support of BI2R

customers and production environment. Contract ended Sept 11, 2012, the

whole team was laid off two weeks prior to end of contract.

CACI-ISS - Database Administrator Principal - May 2009 - May 2012,

Ms. Malen performs overall management database administration for Oracle

9i, 10G & 11g; development and testing databases, She complies to database

administration best practices standards and procedures. She manages and

administers all aspects of databases maintenance and projects in support of

Harmony application. She maintains Oracle Application Server 10G and OID 9i

and Tomcat 6.0.32 and 7.3; performs Solaris 9 & 10 system administration as

Lead Oracle Database Consultant and Unix Administration support

Lead Consultant for the Army Distributed Learning System on Saba Web

application 4.3 and Saba Client 4.3.1, supporting Oracle 9i & 10G databases

as a lead administrator consultant. Responsibilities included: database

monitoring; Netbackup RMAN backups' setting up new environments;

tablespaces, tables, indexes constraints, store procedures, users and

groups creation; security implementation; Solaris OS installations and

patches, restores, configure memory parameters as required by software,

software builds, patches/upgrades, overall database performance and tuning,

auditing, DISA STIG compliance responsibilities, ST&E reporting and

inspections as well as day to day tasks for production and continue of

operations environments. As a team lead coordinated, mentored junior DBAs,

prepare and assigned detail project plans on all tasks for production

outages, analyzed and prepared capacity management and performance reports.

Oracle Database Engineer

In support of the ATT Training system on Saba Web application 5.3, Ms.

Malen provided database administration support for this project, her

responsibilities includes: RMAN backups and maintenance, RAC configuration,

setup new environments, upgrades, patches, traces, code reviews,

troubleshooting and day to day support. Prepared and recorded database

administration course on Oracle RDBMS to train future database

administrators, mentored junior DBAs; assigned task as needed.

Infrastructure Support and Linux support

Worked on the USDA FSA MIDAS project, Ms. Malen implemented Rational tools

such as: ClearCase UCM multisided in collaboration with other technical

teams. She administered and provided user support for Rational ClearCase,

RequisitePro, and RequisiteWeb. She is also responsible for: planning and

coordinating of infrastructure changes, upgrades; licensing issues; user

training; remote VPN access configuration, Linux system administration

support of web applications; process automation with Perl and PHP

scripting; troubleshooting software problems; Rational tool administration

and SQL Server 2000 installation.

Lead Oracle Database Administration Consultant

Lead consultant for integration-architecture team at National Institute of

Heatlh Office of the Director (NIH OD). Ms Malen was responsible for the

database change control management process. She implemented this process

via Rational ClearQuest. Ms. Malen also lead projects: to implemented a

process to reconcile the enterprise data model; and a process to enforce

policies, and procedures to maintain centralized data model; she migrated

and upgraded the Oracle Designer repository; and participated on software

evaluation for the architecture team.

Team Lead Oracle Database Administration group

Team lead consultant for the Army DMLSS data migration project on Oracle

9.2.0.4 database (the source database was Informix 7.3 on Windows and

Hewlet-Packard HP-UX platforms). Ms. Malen as a team lead was responsible

for planning, detailed tasks, kept track of progress and assigned tasks for

migration. She also performed several aspects of the migration such as:

selection of data type conversion, importing and verification of the

database structure and data, setting up database environments, backups,

security alerts issues and monitoring of the database via Statspack. Ms.

Malen performed installation of following products: Designer, JVM, Oracle

RDBMS, and Oracle9iAS. She designed a process to remotely monitor the

databases.

IBM New Zealand Limited, Oracle and Informix Database Administration, April

2001 to October 2002, Ms. Malen provided database administration support on

existing systems to several customers: Contact Energy, Air New Zealand and

Ansett Australia. Ms. Malen provided database administration support on:

Oracle 7.X & 8.X; and Informix 7.2 for production and development

environments. Her responsibilities included: database maintenance and user

support, SQL, process automation via scripting, capacity planning, backup

and recovery, fail-over, stand-by databases maintenance, performance and

tuning issues, migrations, patch upgrades, troubleshooting and Oracle

database installations. She also monitored databases using OEM and

Performance Monitor.

Air New Zealand, Auckland, New Zealand, Consultant Oracle Database

Administration and Change Control Management, May 2000 to March 2001, Ms.

Malen was a member of database administration group responsible for the

production, testing and development environments. She performed Oracle

website database updates and upgrades on a regular basis; database schema

installations and data migrations; automate monitoring processes with Korn

and C Shell scripts. She was responsible for the change control management

Interim Technology, Scottsdale AZ, Software Development, March 1997 to

December 1997

The State of Arizona Department of Technical Oversight asked Interim

Technologies to design an asset inventory system using ACCESS and MS-ACCESS

Visual Basic. Ms Malen collected through interviews data requirements for

various applications, designed inventory system, performed data modeling,

normalized and cleaned data. Trained users on inventory system, created

training materials. She developed the department's Website, and she was

responsible for network administration: GroupWise (e-mail), Archserver

(backup) Novell, troubleshot issues of the SMTP gateway (mail server).

Independent Consulting, Phoenix AZ, Software Development, March 1996 to

March 1997

Ms Malen was a consultant for various clients, she was asked to re-design

or develop portions of travel expense tracking, shipping and receiving, and

financial systems. She developed software using various versions of

PowerBuilder and RDBMS.
