• Lead the addition of the RVP Panel from Luminex. The Panel will include all pertinent respiratory
microorganisms for both children and adults patients.
• Involved in the review and improvement of our home brew Enterovirus PCR test, in response to a
mutated local strain affecting our patients. This requires the examination of the mutated genome via the
CDC, and choosing new probes and primers to create a more perfect fit.
• Incorporated efficiency (Kaizen) processes to alleviate redundancies in current processes.
• Responsible for the micro and macro extraction, processing, testing and analysis of DNA for genetic and
infectious disease.

• One of eight individuals chosen from 75 people in the Microbiology department to redesign the work
flows and create a new configuration for the Reference Laboratory, opening in January 2012. The exact
processes, methods, tests, workflow, and configuration are from my original design.
• Kaizen training provided for the Reference Lab Redesign group, all Lab Coordinators, and Management.
Lean processes were required in our redesign, and all designs had to have Six Sigma Black Belt approval
before incorporated in the final design.
• Additionally, my role with the redesign included bringing all members of my MAP group up to speed
and involving them in the processes; and address all their concerns with the future plans.
• A liaison between my Lab Coordinator and the rest of the MAP group in relation to the Reference Lab.
• MAP group (Mycology, Mycobacteriology, AFB, and Parasitology), responsibilities include
identification of organisms via direct examination, microscopy, speciation of all blood parasites, EIA,
and amplification methodology.
• Resolution of workload distribution conflicts, assigned to this issue by Lab Coordinator, resulting in a
more cohesive and fluid work distribution, and the visibility into MT activity/accountability. Responsible
for re-evaluating and rewriting the procedures for the MAP group.
• Medical Technologist employed by CCF are responsible for education Medical Students, Residents,
Medical Technology Students, and all other new employees.
• Responsible for Bacteriology/Microbiology QC bench which monitors the entire Microbiology
department’s materials, reagents, agars, and commercial products.
