Senior Process Engineer
Responsible for injection molding and extrusion quality and improvement.
Maintained and designed multi-cavity injection molds and molded components
with tight tolerances. Worked closely with customers in a project
engineering/project management capacity. Responsible for materials testing,
selection, and analysis. Responsible for plastic part and injection mold
cost analysis. Experienced in AutoCad R12, R13, R14, 2000, Unigraphics,
MasterCam, Inventor, Moldflow, C-Mold, and QS 9000. Responsible for
prototype, mold and material sampling, and R & D. Responsible for
extrusion processing, tooling, quality, and design. Responsible for
ensuring and maintaining that molded/extruded parts were within tight
tolerances and within customer and internal specifications.
Worked with various thermoplastics including:
. Polypropylene, Polystyrene, TPE's, PA6, ABS, Polycarbonate, Acetal,
Polyethylene, PVC
. Responsible for mold design, automation, sampling, and establishing
processing characteristics for maximum efficiency. Converted over 200
existing injection molds into automated tools, which enabled the plant to
run a "lights out operation". Continuously troubleshoot and improve
injection molds and injection molding press automation and robotics.
. Assisted in the development of automated assembly, work cells, plant
layout, and testing fixtures for the manufacturing of sunroof drains,
emissions, and windshield washer fluid delivery systems.
. Implemented preventative maintenance programs for injection molds,
molding screws, and testing fixtures.
. Introduced and implemented networked production tracking system to
monitor manufacturing systems to identify production trends and improve
overall plant efficiency.
1997-1998 The Hoover Company N. Canton, OH
Technical Production Manager
Responsible for 40+ employees. Responsible for injection molding presses
ranging from 700 Ton to 1200 Ton. Supervised four extrusion lines and three
pad printing stations. Worked with hot runner systems in the production of
components for upright vacuum cleaners and SteamVac carpet cleaners.
Assisted in the development of ergonomic workstations and work cell
improvements.
