. Responsible for daily operations of a $380K+ business built from the
ground up. Handling all accounting functions including month-end and
year-end process, budgeting, forecasting, projections, cash
management, financial statements, financial analysis, variance
analysis, corporate tax filings, payroll, payroll tax, sales tax,
fixed asset accounting, banking relationships, relationships with
outside CPA firm, human resources, staff development, relationships
with vendors, direct interaction with customers and resolution of any
issues, purchasing decisions, accounts receivable, accounts payable,
IT, feasibility & viability analysis of new revenue streams and new

. Financial analysis projects, account variance analysis, coordination
of 401(k) audit including completion of all applicable work papers and
other ad hoc projects. Served various functions depending on need.
. Responsible for cash management activities including recording,
reconciling and forecasting for seven companies with ten bank
accounts. Account structures include daily disbursement (DDA),
controlled disbursement (CDA), and zero-balance accounts (ZBA). Also
have experience with foreign currency accounts as two accounts are
Canadian dollar (CAD) accounts.
Position: Controller 2000-2008
. Responsible for all aspects of accounting operations including month-
end and year-end process, preparation of all financial statements for
seventeen companies, completion of all applicable work papers,
maintenance of general ledger, fixed asset accounting, reconciliation
of intercompany transactions, foreign currency accounting, variance
analysis, financial analysis, budgets, forecasts/projections, cash
management, modeling, compilation of data from various departments,
workers compensation reporting, financing packets, borrowing base
reports and other ad hoc reports.
. Responsible for tax compliance with all regulatory agencies,
respective tax filings and any inquiries. Tax filings including
payroll (300 active employees/500 W-2's) and unemployment taxes for
ten states and over twenty local jurisdictions, 940's, 941's, W-2's, W-
3's, 1099's, federal and state fuel tax reports, heavy highway use
tax, property taxes, sales tax, and all estimated tax payments.
. Management of nine staff members, including seven direct reports, of
the accounting, payroll & human resources and billing department.
Responsible for all necessary training, procedures, internal controls,
as well as, the utilization of staff members to the best of their
abilities.
. Coordination of year-end work with CPA firm. Including
communications, financial audit, tax returns and 401(k) audit. As
well as, coordination and point of contact for semi-annual bank
audits, respective tax audits (IRS, State of Michigan, etc.) and
workers compensation audits.
