To whom it may concern:
I am interested in employment with your company. I have been teaching
High School Mathematics, including Statistics, for over 20 years and am
looking for a career change. I have a strong background in Technology and
have served as IT Director, Database Administrator, Scheduling Director,
and Data Coordinator while employed as a teacher. I also have a history in
Leadership roles, serving as Department Head, Team Leader, and Policy
Building Team Member.
I grew up in the family business, which was a children's shoe store,
and have extensive knowledge of all aspects of the retail world. I managed
the store for 2 years while my parents were nearing retirement and took
over all purchasing, billing, staff management, advertising and customer
service.
My problem solving and mental processing skills are exceptional and I
learn new things very quickly. I am enthusiastic and generally cheerful.
Given the opportunity, I would surely impress you with my confidence and
ability to make you smile.
I look forward to discussing my qualifications and potential
employment with your company.
Thank you,
Angel Chimino

Personal Statement
I am a very organized, hard working individual. I am assertive and
confident, but not afraid to ask questions or seek help when needed. I
have a strong work ethic, which comes from growing up in a family
business. If something needs to be done, I'm the first one to do it. I
am more than willing to take on tasks that challenge me and always
ready to lend a hand to those who need me. I am extremely deadline
conscious and find great satisfaction in seeing a project to
completion. My teaching experiences have given me strong presentation
and management skills. I am certain that the combination of these
strengths make me a valuable employee worthy of consideration by any
company.
Education
Master of Arts in Education, 2008
Villanova University, Villanova, PA
4.0 in major
Bachelor of Science in Education, 1991
Concentration in Mathematics
Temple University, Philadelphia, PA
Graduated on Dean's List
Technology Skills
I have extensive knowledge of SmartBoard Notebook and Tools, which I
use regularly to create presentation materials and learning tools for
my mathematics classes.
I am also proficient with Microsoft Office, mainly Excel, PowerPoint,
and Outlook which I use to create materials and learning tools for my
students as well as for my own use in record keeping and interoffice
communication.
I am also extremely comfortable with a variety of technology based
teaching tools that I have implemented in my classroom. I was the Data
Base Manager and Director of Scheduling using the program PowerSchool
at Freire Charter School.
I have a significant comfort level with new software and very little
fear in exploring a program to make it work best and most efficiently
for me and the company. I'm not afraid to ask questions and have no
probem sharing anything new that I discover
Math Skills
I have excellent math skills, having worked as a math teacher for
almost 22 years. I have taught mathematics courses from 6th grade up
to and including Honors Calculus. Several years included Statistics
and Probablility. I've done Statistical analysis and application
through my research in Graduate school at Villanova University as well
where I maintained a 4.0 in my major. I worked as a bank teller in
college during summer breaks but learned quite a bit about the
industry. I also incorporated a Finance unit into my general math
classes.
Organizational Skills
My organizational skills are top notch. Keeping confidential paperwork
on students and following up with parents and counselors when you have
over 100 students is a feat all on its own. Meeting quarterly
deadlines for report cards and periodic deadlines 8 times a year for
progress reports keeps you on your toes, not to mention scheduling
quizzez, tests and other state assessments so that they all fall
within the framework of the time alloted for your marking period.
Effective time management is crucial.
Creativity and Flexibility
In addition to having excellent organizational skills, I am also
exceptionally creative and flexible. Teaching requires careful
planning of dynamic lessons to engage students on a daily basis, not
only to keep them interested but to best manage the classroom
environment. However, if a lesson does not go as planned and the
students are not responding as expected, a teacher must be able to
switch gears at a moment's notice and have a back up plan ready to go
in order to save the lesson and still teach the material.

Professional Development Experience

into curriculum writing, school design, and distribution of
administrative duties. I would jump at the chance to repeat the
experience.
November of 2000, I attended a two-day conference at The University of
Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. The University of Chicago School
Mathematics Project is the program that was used by The Haverford
School and the conference was an opportunity to meet with authors, as
well as other teachers, to discuss the program.
October of 2000, I attended the NCTM conference in Philadelphia, PA.
The focus of the presentations was the use of manipulatives and
technology in the classroom and beyond.
August of 2000, I attended a 3-day workshop at The Haverford School
which gave hands on demonstration for using Computer Based Laboratory
technology in math and science classrooms.
July of 2000, I attended a two-day workshop at The Haverford School.
The workshop was entitled Visual Architecture: Designing and Directing
Curriculum-Based Telecomputing and was run by Dr. Judi Harris, an
expert in the field of Educational Technology. The workshop focussed
on creating a web-based curriculum and the use of the internet in the
classroom.
June of 2000, I attended a three-day workshop in Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina. The workshop was a mini-course on effective uses of the
computer program Geometer's Sketchpad. Demonstration, lesson plans and
assessment were among the topics discussed.
February of 2000, I attended the Math/Science Education and Technology
Conference in San Diego, California. Seminars focussed on math and
