S. C. Department of Corrections April 1987 to March 1998

Supervised 5 skilled trade work supervisors and 85 inmate workers. Responsible for all

performance evaluations and records.

Assisted in all aspects of security issues, building plan specifications with contractors, and

OSHA regulations from the beginning stages of construction on this 34 building, 1396 bed

maximum security (to include death row) prison facility.

Implemented procedures for compliance with regulatory standards as they applied to fire life safety

and acted as a State Fire Marshall from 1987-1991 as well as being Energy Conservation Manager

for the facility.

Managed and kept up to date records on cost data and progress reports.

Maintained a controlled tool inventory and assignment system to insure a safe working

environment.

Established pro- active routine maintenance program for institution.

Worked as right hand man to the Warden, in conjunction with the Governor of South Carolina and

participated in all execution preparation and implementation.

square feet. Supervised the departments of; housekeeping, grounds, general maintenance, and

transportation fleet.

Worked with outside contractors/project managers and architects on Campus building and

Reported to and works closely with the Vice President for Finance and implemented campus wide

Implemented a Recycling and Waste Reduction Program in conjunction with the Environmental

Center for learning, which has yielded savings and good environmental practic at houses the es across campus.

Supervise the departments of housekeeping, grounds, general maintenance, environmental safety,

r ecycling, construction renovations and transportation fleet.

Work with outside contractors/project managers and architects on Campus building and

r enovations projects.

Oversee the campus community and off campus properties to include: cleaning, catering,

maintenance, security, health and safety, and communication infrastructure.

On a daily basis, monitoring contractors to insure they meet standards, making sure that the

company is disposing of waste correctly and implementing recycling programs where appropriate,

communicating with tenants of the properties, and allocating the space of new and existing

buildings.

Accountable for providing leadership and demonstrating a clear commitment to all aspects of

EH&S, ensuring safe work practices and developing / approving procedures to maximize craft

productivity associated with routine work.

maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner

Conducts performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the

maintenance staff. Provides for training and development as well as coaching and discipline.

Assists in the budgeting, capital planning and financial review of plant performance.

Maintains compliance with all environmental policies and procedures; ensures that all city,

county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
