Title: A Study On Slurry Erosion of Polymer Matrix Composites

Description:

Polymer matrix composites are now considered as an important class of engineering material. These being cheap

inexhaustible and easily available, it would hopefully provide a cost effective solution to composite manufacturers.

With the increase in use of these materials in erosive work environments, its become extremely important to

investigate their erosion characteristics intensively. The main objective of our work was to study the slurry erosion

behavior of Polymer Matrix Composites and the influence of Al203 filler on the erosive wear behavior.

The composites were fabricated by hand lay up technique and specimens were cut and according to desired

dimensions.The obtained results show that Al2O3 incorporated composites exhibited better resistance to erosion

compared to unfilled composites. Further, wear loss has increased with increase in slurry concentration and slurry

speed. However, with the increase in angle from 30 to 45 deg there was a increase in wear loss and further increase

in angle lead to the reduce in the wear loss revealing the semi-ductile nature.

I was the leader of the group and coordinated effectively with other group member to carry out the work properly

and finish it in time.
