Professional Experience

Metro Nashville Public Schools, Nashville, TN – January 2011 to Present

Metro Nashville Public Schools was awarded a three-year federal grant intended as a turn-around method for

six schools to attract students to the school through the theme.

Job Title: Magnet Marketing and Student Recruitment Coordinator

Marketing: Branded six new magnet schools that were traditional, low-performing public schools in

order to attract students. Developed and implemented marketing materials, in conjunction with

contracted professionals, including development of correspondence, design and editing of promotional

materials (marketing collateral and video), and coordinated mass mailings. Collected and utilized data

associated with student recruitment to drive utilization and placement of marketing materials.

External Communications: Coordinated public relations/advertising campaigns to promote Magnet

schools. Coordinated with local media to gain publicity as well as appeared on local TV and radio.

W orked with professional media agency for purchase and placement of advertisements. Presented

materials to community members.

Internal Communications: Redesigned entire district application process, forms and related materials.

Led government bids for production of all marketing materials and consultants. Determined each

schools marketing materials need, coordinated design, supplied text, and facilitated the printing

process. Assisted in preparing budget for Marketing and Recruiting. Coordinated with the Office of

Student Services’ staff to develop and maintain application process, including dates available and

information necessary to parents. Coordinated communications for the entire Office of Inno vation

including website and consistent messaging and understanding of entire office.

Community Involvement: Coordinated communications with civic and community groups. Presented

materials both locally and nationally. Assisted with attracting and maintaini ng business and community

partnerships at each school.

Parent Engagement: Explained Magnet programs to parents. Provided information, assistance and

direction regarding programs at each school and application. Advised, counseled, and worked to

influence decision to attend Magnet schools. Maintained database of interested parents. Coordinated

parent involvement activities.

Student Recruitment: Coordinates recruitment of students; maintains calendar of events; coordinates

recruitment activities such as speaking engagements, mall fairs, and school tours; maintains logs of

recruitment activities, public relations activities, and media coverage.

Event Coordination: Coordinated the district’s annual First Choice Festival. An all school fair where

over 5,000 families in attendance to network with our traditional and charter schools.

Benton Hall Academy, Franklin, TN August 2009 to January 2011

Benton Hall Academy is a private school where children that learn differently are educated with compassion,

where children who struggle academically and socially are inspired to discover their strengths and maximize

their potential, and where children who have been on the outside looking in are invited to belong .

Job Title: Director of Development

Designed and implemented the organizations first comprehensive development and marketing plan.

Spearheaded rebranding initiative and developed all marketing materials.

Implemented three major fundraising events (two new) in 2009-2010 school year.

Increased funds by over 50% for 2009-2010 school year. The 2010-2011 school year has thus far

exceeded expectations for fundraising events.

Launched social media initiative.

Coordinated all PR activities that resulted in nearly monthly (unpaid) media exposure.

Created and executed partnership with Vanderbilt in creating speaker series for parents .

Minuteman Press, Nashville, TN August 2004 to August 2009

Minuteman Press is a printing franchise that specializes in high-quality marketing collateral and direct mailing

services.

Job Title: Senior Account Executive/Marketing Manager

Developed and managed over $800,000 of new accounts in 5 years.

Created and executed a four-part marketing process for Minuteman aimed at target demographics.

Served as the marketing consultant to established accounts in order to maximize success and cost savings.
