Moved to the USA in August of 2009 from the United Kingdom as a sophomore. Despite the huge cultural

differences in the education system, I managed to adapt fairly easily although I was moving around a lot which

resulted in me having to drop out mid junior year and get my CHSPE certificate which later on led to me

studying towards my GED.

Software/System Skills

My father worked as a computer programmer overseas, so I grew up around technology. As a

c hild I was always very intrigued with computer software and learnt how to use basic

H TML before I was a teenager. I would make website templates/layouts on Adobe

P hotoshop for fun and eventually started making them for friends’ social networking

p ages (Bebo/Myspace).

A f ew years later, my father opened up his own computer repair shop in Whitstable, Kent

( UK) and he then recruited me to work in the shop after school; helping him out with

s imple spyware installations and light cashier work. It was here that I learnt how to use

M icrosoft Excel as I’d help him out with stocking and recording merchandise that was

s hipped to us daily.

Having attended private schools as a child in the UK, we were taught how to use the

m ajority of the Microsoft programs such as Word and Powerpoint from a young age. We

w ere thoroughly encouraged to use them so I was able to grasp a solid and confident sense

o f each program and had fun experimenting and learning new things which would make

m y work look more professional.
