• 10 years Canadian experience and 19 years China working experience in structural designing steel structures, R.C. structures (slab-beam-column framing, slab-column framing, shear-wall and multi-framing, masonry structures, wood structures, etc.

• Skilled computer operating as AutoCAD 2004~2010 and operate faster

• Familiar with office net work system

• In-depth knowledge of Mathematics and mechanics principles and calculation skills

• Working hard, quick to learn and enable to work under pressure

WORK EXPERIENCE

GESCON-SHARFFIR STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS INC. as engineer

North York 2010 March ~ present

• Mainly do more designing work such as complex house, commercial buildings. Make mark-up/sketches for draft person

• check the drawings done by draft-person and adjusted drawings sometimes if it is not necessary to ask draft-person to change it

NORR LIMITED as Structural Technician

Toronto 2008 Feb. ~ 2010 Feb.

• Set up plan drawings based on preliminary structural drawings and architectural drawings by AutoCAD

• Update structural plans according to architectural updated plans or fill more information according to engineer’s mark-ups

• Set up details & sections drawing according to requirement of engineers and architectural drawings

• Perform high quality final (sheet) drawings as engineers or project manager required

• Familiar with TIMS net system and provide different fills as engineer or project manager required

• Doing some steel member calculating /slab design by SAFE sometimes as engineer requests

GESCON-SHAFFIR STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS INC. as engineer

North York 2003 Aug. ~2008 Feb.

• Designed and drew wood housings and steel commercial buildings (warehouse, sale centre and one story office etc)

• Proficient in using AutoCAD2007 (2D)

• Calculated wood beams and posts by ForteR & WoodWorks program; steel framing by Soda3.4; R.C. members by AdossV7.01 & Analysis Group2.5; footings by Rcpad 1.1; Baseplate by RISABase; Masonry by Masonry Design Software 2.0

• Familiar with Ontario design code (CSA) and handbooks such as ‘Wood Design Manual’, ‘Handbook of Steel Construction’ and ‘Concrete Design Handbook’

• Deal with complicated designing of wood & steel structures

CHINA RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING DESIGN INSTITUTE,

Beijing China before 2002

• Designed over 40 structural engineering projects in industrial buildings, residential (civil) buildings and commercial buildings

• In industrial field, designed many R.C. & steel structural framing-work. Such as 1-storey~5-storey frame workshops, 10t or 20t boiler buildings. Including special structure members such as 12m R.C. crane beam, 33m steel girder truss etc.

For example,

project named ‘Baoji Rolling Stock Plant Extension’.( Included several 1 story workshop buildings and there are 2-10t~20t cranes in each workshop.) as structure engineer of the project in 1988

1st step : Preliminary Design

Go with other department engineers together to the site for investigation and getting existing building’s information and drawings. According to national building codes & local building codes (if there are), client’s requests and existing building structure style to set up structure model of new part and design briefly. Provide preliminary summary structural plan( if client needs) and design specification or manual. It’s including building structural style, materials (usually provide strength) and structural member sizes. Also list unusual design ideals.(If there are some special structural situations or members, such as huge machine foundation, bad soil condition and non-standard member etc.) this project with non-standard structural member 9m crane beam( generally it is 6m).

2nd step : Structural Exhaustive Design

There are 2 parts of design: Whole Building design and members design.

3rd step : making drawings

• Designed special structures such as 50t forge hammer machine foundation, 42m chimney stack, steel platform etc.

• In residential area, designed many R.C. frames & shear-wall structures such as 27-storey high building residence (shear wall), 2~3-storey villa residence( R.C. housings)

For example,

Project named ‘Bureau of Beijing Railway Staff Residential building’ (27 stories R.C. shear wall high building) as structure senior engineer in 2001

1. Built up suitable structural model According to the architectural drawings to suit real working condition.

2. According to building code chose design load (cover anticipated load at most) and combinations

3. Use appropriate computer program to analysis and adjust the model if it is necessary

4. Adjusted member sizes. Found out reasonable sizes

5. Tectonic design (node connection, opening, non-structural member)

6. Foundation design: choose reasonable style to suit soil condition.

• In commercial field, designed structures such as 9-storey hospital building (R.C. structures), 14-storey office building (R.C.BM-COL + R.C. shear wall), 20,000 seats stadium (R.C. frame & steel roof lattice frame). Accountant training centre(R.C. structure framing + some steel beams. also Including 70 deg. slope R.C. column)

For example,

Project named ‘shanghai Malu building’ (14 stories R.C. framing-shear wall) as structure engineer in 1992

This project’s special part is foundation design (over 50m deep sludge soil). Details will be told in interview if you are interested in

EDUCATION

AutoCAD2003/2004 course II~IV 2003

George Brown College, Toronto, Canada

B.Degree in structural engineering 1979~1983

Southwest Jiaotong University, Sichuan, China
