Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all Immunization
programmatic activities, including Vaccines for Children (VFC) and the
statewide Mississippi Immunization Information eXchange (MIIX). Responsible
for assisting in the development of policies for immunization requirements
in the state of Mississippi; manage $55.9 million budget ($12.9 in ops/$43
in vaccines); responsible for establishing policies and procedures and for
training/developing program staff nurses, as well as providing educational
in-services for VFC providers. Responsible for directing field staff in the
investigation of vaccine-preventable illnesses, initiating partnerships
with key stakeholders and coordinating outbreak and control activities with
the epidemiology and surveillance staff. Responsible for oversight of the
Immunization grant applications including grant writing and budget
development. Additional responsibilities include development and
dissemination of immunization educational materials for private and public
providers and maintaining objectives for seven individual grants;
supervision of 30 office-based and 15 field-based staff. Received award for
Most Improved and Number One in the nation for pediatric immunizations.
