Relevant Experience
During my tenure at Ruby Memorial Hospital in 2013 I was awarded the Bravo
Award for outstanding spiritual care. I received this award for the
superior spiritual care that I provided to a family while they were making
end of life decisions for their loved one in the Cardiac Intensive care
unit. I received outstanding quarterly evaluations from mangers, nursing
supervisors, and physicians in various units of the hospital. Patients and
their families also contacted the spiritual care department to report their
positive experience of the work that had been done in the assigned medical
units where I provided spiritual care. The director of the spiritual care
department, Chaplain John Hardman received cards, letters, and emails, all
identifying the compassionate spiritual care that was provided to patients,
families, and staff during my residency at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The Crest Wood Group program offered me an internship. Which afforded me
the opportunity to provide spiritual care and counseling in a group
context. Weekly spiritual support was provided to the clients during
meetings as an intervention for those suffering with alcohol and drug
addictions. Crest Wood Group assisted in my development as a drug and
alcohol abuse spiritual care counselor. The internship educated me in the
context of understanding how to perform assessments on individuals that
were suffering with drug and alcohol addictions. The work was diverse and
allowed me the opportunity to work with various populations, including
veterans, which gave me the ability to learn proper treatment for
individuals suffering from drug and alcohol abuse due to post traumatic
stress disorder. I was also able to learn the effects of post-traumatic
stress disorder in relation to various phobias. This condition gave me the
opportunity to minister to the needs of individuals who had been wounded in
spirit. Lastly, during my tenure at Crest Wood Group I elected and
recommended new instructional materials and programs for use in the
substance abuse program.
