August 26, 2013
Dear Sir or Madam,
If your establishment is looking for a Nurse Practitioner that is
Vivacious, caring, genuine, and passionate about healthcare, I may be the
one, you are looking for.
My name is Donna Beck. I am inquiring about any opportunity that may be
available within your establishment for a Family nurse Practitioner. I
graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) on December
18, 2010, from the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. I am certified
through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). I bring with
me 20 years experience in the medical field, in which I have undertaken
diverse roles, responsibilities and tasks. Most of my experience has been
in ICU, Cardiac Care and Emergency Room. My most recent experience and my
current job, is West Florida ER, where I practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
Prior to my current job I was the lead provider at the Urgent Care in
Atmore, Alabama. I also worked a few days each week in a primary care
practice. I do have a letter of recommendation from Mr. Tucker, CEO of ACH
Hospital and Rural Health Clinics.
I completed most of my clinical rotations in a very rural setting that was
run by a Family Nurse Practitioner, Jason Box CRNP. I managed many
chronic conditions, and I performed countless procedures under his
direction. Under the direction of my preceptor I experienced working a
rural clinic and covering a small 4 bed ER.
I have a friendly personality and excellent rapport with physicians,
coworkers, and patients that will allow me to be effective and provide
exceptional care as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Attached is my
complete portfolio for your review. A Reference list can easily be
provided on request.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
I appreciate this opportunity and feel I could be a valuable asset to your
organization.
Sincerely,
Donna M. Beck

MY Philosophy of Advanced Practice Nursing
Donna M. Beck RN, BSN, CRNP
. Nurse Practitioners are licensed independent practitioners who provide
primary and/or specialty nursing and medical care in ambulatory, acute,
and long term care settings. They are Registered Nurses with specialized
advanced education and clinical competency to provide health and Medical
care for a diverse population in a variety of settings (AANP 2006).
. Advanced Practice Nurses are essential in meeting the present and future
health needs of society. Concurrent with Evidence Based Nursing, the APN
uses research to guide clinical decisions that facilitate disease
prevention and health restoration to clients across the lifespan.
. As in the past Nursing has always risen to the occasion to care for those
who were unable to obtain care. Nursing again has answered the cry of
society by educating nurses in Advanced Practice. Nursing has entered
the Primary care and acute care arena's, in answer to the need of health
care.
. My personal philosophy as an APN is to provide optimal health care, to
treat all patients with sincerity and conviction of what I believe about
health care, which is to provide an individualized, holistic, and caring
approach using evidence based knowledge and treatments within my scope of
practice.
. As a caring APN, I have a responsibility to empower individuals to take
responsibility for their health in regards to, healthy life style,
nutritional goals, proper screenings, and health care choices.
. As an APN, I will respect and honor the personal decisions of my
patients. No two patients are the same. A wise APN will take into
account environmental, socio-economic, psychological, and spiritual
factors of the patient.
. As an APN, I will explain and instruct each patient regarding all
treatments, or plans of care, to keep the patient informed and educated.
I see so many patients who do not understand or know their medications.
I intend to take whatever time is necessary to ensure that medications
are understood by the patient.
. Not only will I treat patients with medical problems and hopefully aid
them in restoration of health, but I will also hold disease prevention in
high esteem. I want to be there for the ones who want to know how to
stay well.
. So many clients are timid when approaching their primary care physician
with their worries or concerns. I want to develop an open, honest
atmosphere of genuine care. I want my patients to feel they can call me
for worries or concerns. Only in this type of an open relationship can I
promote optimal health care.
. I am no better than my patients. I am also human. In this attitude I
hope my patients and community will believe in my commitment to them
regarding their health.
. As an APN, I have a responsibility to treat what is within my scope of
practice and a responsibility to refer when it is best for the patient.
It's not about me, it's about the patient.
. As an APN, I will be an advocate for the nursing profession. I will
conduct myself in an ethical, professional manner. I will seek justice,
honor, wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and sincerity as an Advance
Practice Nurse.
