Title : Design and modification of vortex tube

ABSTRACT

The vortex tube is a devise that enables the separation of hot and cold air as

compressed air flows tangentialy into vortex chamber through inlet nozzles.Seperating

cold and hot air by using the principal of the vortex tube can be applied to

industrial application such as cooling equipment in CNC machines,

refrigeration,cooling suits heating process,etc .The vortex tube is weii-suited for

these application because it is simple, compact,light and does not use Freon. It has

no moving parts and does not break or wear and therefore requires little maintenances.

Thus thisproject present an overview of the phenomena occurring inside the vortex tube

during the temp seoeration on both tge counter flow and parallel flow types.the

experiment consisted of two important parameters, the first is the geometrical

characteristics of the vortex tube for example the diameter and length of the hot and

cold tubes,the diameters of the cold orifice,shape of the hottube,number of inlet

nozzles.The second is focused on the thermo-physical parameters such as inlet gas

pressure and type of air(air.oxyge
