PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
Bechtel National Corporation – Engineering Automation - August 1988 – January 2013
WTP - Hanford River Protection Project - Richland, Washington - BNFL/ Bechtel National/ CH2M Hill
Senior Automation Engineer – ProjectWise Administrator - CAD Supervisor
IS&T CAD Supervisor for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) engineering, design, procurement and construction
of the world’s largest nuclear waste vitrification and chemical treatment plant. Responsible for implementation/
customization of Bentley Design Series/ MicroStation multi-discipline CAD systems. Worked with discipline leads
to establish custom component symbol libraries, workflows, data structures, and automation training.
Lead implementation of first Bechtel project to utilize the ProjectWise system for management of critical native
engineering, procurement, construction and CAD documents. Developed software proposal for management
approval, acquired admin training, developed client/ server system map, developed engineering, procurement and
construction workflows, intelligent title block, and construction weld inspections work processes. Implemented
caching server solution in 3 separate U.S. project offices and ProjectWise WEB Server for external user connections.
Project Administrator responsible for automation development, support, upgrade planning, software lifecycle, and
Bentley interface. Worked with EPC groups to define new work-processes and developed automated workflow
solutions. Created and presented customized advanced automation solutions and training presentations to over 2,000
users assigned to the EPC, Startup, and Operations staffs in Washington, California, Virginia, and Australia.
Bechtel Corporation Western Regional Office - San Francisco, California
Principal CAD Support Specialist - CAD Applications Supervisor
As a principal Mechanical and Plant Design CAD designer I developed programs to increase productivity within the
engineering design groups. In recognition of my efforts, I was reassigned to the Bechtel corporate CAD center
supporting over thirty-five 2D/3D projects and three separate business lines. First directly supporting projects and
then working with a team to develop and implement a server based CAD environment for standardizing the project
interface and workstation support. I then became the Principal MicroStation specialist responsible for Level II help
desk support and advanced methods and problem solving for multiple CAD projects in the San Francisco, Canadian,
South America, and Asian offices.
As Applications Supervisor, I was responsible for leading a programming effort to create a standard set of software
programs for the three engineering business lines. Coordinated development of application programs and standard
symbol libraries between the multiple engineering disciplines and the different business lines. These automation
tools proved to be very successful and the CAD Tools are highly valued on projects all over the world as proven to
increase productivity while maintaining standards.
I was also selected for six month international assignments to lead automation implementation in Santiago Chile for
the Collahuasi copper mining project followed by a six month assignment to Rio De Janeiro Brazil in a combined
role as Automation and Design lead for the Salobo copper mine project. Following that assignment I was sent for an
additional month to Sao Paulo Brazil for the setup and opening of the Bechtel South American Regional office.
