Gregory Schmidt
Dear hiring manager:
Since I was young, I’ve always had a knack for business. This can be explained by the fact that I’m
an organized person, my thinking tends toward the logical, and I have a facility for figures. But, and
this is how I feel I can be an asset to your company, I’m also good at thinking outside the box. I know
this because of the real-time pressures I’ve faced and overcome on the job, and the necessity of
improvising to accomplish this.
That I’m a team player has also contributed to my success, an attribute essential to being a Project
Manager. The trick here, I believe, and what has always worked for me when managing people, is not
to bruise egos but respect them, and by doing so make those under you willing partners in what needs
to be done. This has always served me well in advancing the goals of the firm while maintaining team
spirit.
Character plays a part, too, especially at the managerial level. The importance of reliability and
accountability cannot be overemphasized, not only, as relates to my performance, but in setting an
example for others to follow. I have always found it profitable to lead by example.
Experience, of course, can’t be undervalued, either. Formal education certainly has its application,
and a big one. Without the classroom, the technical knowledge needed could never be learned. As you
will note in my resume, I’ve enjoyed my share of this. Nor am I finished. I have completed the Scrum
Master Certification. But the classroom isn’t everything. It has always been my opinion that on the job,
hands-on training plays a major role as well. Indeed, it’s here that I’ve learned things I couldn’t have
anywhere else, primarily how to reconcile the theoretical with the practical.
This is one of the ways I feel I can be of help to you. I think we’d make a great team, and look
forward to sitting down with you and discussing this possibility.
Sincerely,
Gregory Schmidt
