PROFESIONAL PROFILE

I have been employed in the mining and construction industry for over thirty years within the field of

management and HSE.

My HSE career started in the Royal Australian Army, where I gained a considerable amount of knowledge

in all aspects of safety and construction. In 2001 I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Vocational Education

and Training and in 2002 a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, both

from the Central Queensland University (Australia). I’m a certified member of the Safety Institute of

Australia.

I have worked in Antarctica, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, South Korea and also throughout Australia on

various multi-million and multi-billion dollar construction projects. Construction projects I have been involved

in and had the responsibility for managing workplace and corporate HSE include:

• The onshore construction of offshore platforms in Malaysia and South Korea and the offshore

installation, hookup and commissioning of these facilities within Australian waters.

Plant Supervisor (Sgt) Royal Australian Army

In charge of all large cranes and forklifts for the purpose of loading and off-loading ships.

I completed a specialist crane course with Blackwood and Hodge, which covered all mobile cranes within

Australia.

Plant Operator Royal Australian Army

This position entailed the operation of various pieces heavy machinery. A specialist course was also undertaken

in paving and quarrying.

Between October 1979 and April 1980 I was offered and accepted a detachment with the Australian National

Antarctic Research Expedition in Mawson, Antarctica.

The main responsibility of this work was to operate and teach the use of dozers, forklifts, front-end loaders and

cranes in the construction of new pre-fabricated buildings, roads and airfields.

On return from Antarctica, I completed subject 4 for Corporal.
