• Responsible for developing and managing a centralized Purchasing Department.
• Developed and managed a complex global supply chain, inventory distribution system,
and transportation and logistics of all car materials, capital equipment and MRO materials.
• Contributed to the expansion of our freight car product portfolio through cross functional
team efforts with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing.
• Established multi-layered part costing system with Finance and Accounting to be used as a

Purchasing Manager – Specialty Components, Johnstown America, Inc. 1994 – 1996
• Managed a department of purchasing senior buyers for freight car specialty components,
capital equipment, and plant MRO materials.
• Managed all material, sub-contractor responsibilities, scrap sales, and cost reporting for
several profitable freight car re-body and specialty component reconditioning programs.
• Developed a third part transportation and logistics provider managing all inbound freight
to all Johnstown America manufacturing facilities and distribution warehouses.
• Developed and managed a flow-through inventory distribution warehouse that received,
inventoried, and metered materials to the manufacturing assembly line on a JIT basis.
Procurement Specialist, Kennametal, Inc. 1986 – 1994
• As a part of a corporate procurement strategy, negotiated contracts for production
materials to be scheduled and consumed at approximately 30 domestic plant locations.
• Purchased capital equipment to support plant expansions and process improvement
including CNC Machining Centers, CNC Internal/External Grinders, Honing Equipment,
CNC Boring Mills, CNC Lathes, Walking Beam Furnaces, and various types of dies, fixtures,
and tooling.
• Supported all business units with necessary procurement and project management activities
as a means of expanding the company’s product offering and customer base, as well as
continually reviewing cost reduction opportunities to improve profit margins.
