Department Management/Cost Control:

. Created and maintained an $8 million dollar department budget for 13

Server Management:

. Accepted expanded responsibility of Enterprise Server management. (500

Servers) in addition to an IBM Mainframe environment.

environment and populated it with Dell models PE1855 and PE1955 blade

servers to reduce power consumption and save server rack space.

. Built Server and Desktop virtualization environment using VMWare's ESX

host software. Populated 45 ESX Host environments with VM Servers and

Virtual Desktops, which saved on capital expenditures for servers and

desk tops, data center space and power consumption.

. Implemented upgrades to Active Directory, Exchange, and Vsphere, that

kept software current.

Software Release Management:

. Upgraded Team Foundation server to 2008 to keep software current and

improve the life cycle infrastructure environment.

. Migrated source code for the commercial lines policy administration

system from vendor to in-house after purchase of the system. This

change introduced better system control and shortened the timeframe

for code changes.

Systems Programming Management:

. Built an OS/390 system, which included the evaluation and

implementation of System Management tools, which introduced new

functions such as automation and WLM goal mode, then converted the

entire workload from VSE to OS/390.

. Kept Operating System software current by upgrading to OS/390 2.5,

2.8, 2.10, z/OS 1.4, 1.6.

. Implemented new storage technology such as IBM 3494 MAGSTAR ATL and

VTS, for tape automation and implemented EMC Symmetrix disk arrays for

disk storage.

. Kept mainframe hardware in-sync with the growing workload by

implementing processor models CMOS 9672-R55, 9672-RD6, 9672-R56, z-

series processors 2064-103, 104, and 105.

. Instituted initiatives such as information Security, Capacity

Planning, and Database Administration to improve overall

infrastructure management.

. Implemented DB2 Version 7 on OS/390 mainframe environment.

. Upgraded System with technology updates such as LPARs, SYSPLEX and

FICON channels.

. Implemented Websphere Application Server 4.0.1, 5.0, and 5.1 on the

mainframe then on Windows Servers, to keep software current.

. Decreased monthly software cost by implementing Variable Workload
