Title: Study of Precision Ball Screw

Description: In this project, Ball screws are used in a variety of jobs. Their high efficiency makes them

useful in high and low load applications. Off-the-shelf models have load limits ranging from 170 to 200000

lb.

Conventional lead screws are those in which there is a sliding contact between the screw and nut. Ball screws are

those in which there is a rolling contact between the screw and nut with free rolling motion of balls

.

The force transmitted is spread over a number of balls so that contact stresses are relatively low compared to

conventional screws. The rolling friction between balls and nuts results in an extremely low coefficient of

friction.
