My professional responsibilities while serving the
department of correctional services were the care,

State. In 1984, the department chose me to become
a trainer for all new recruits attending the
correctional academy, and also for in-service
employees, both civilian and uniformed. I also
served as the staffing officer at Marcy
Correctional facility where I assisted the staffing
Lieutenant in correctly staffing a facility of 450
correction officers on a daily basis. This was a
very exacting job which required great
organizational skills and a talent for excellent
record-keeping.

LEADERSHIP Because of my proven discretion in
delicate situations, I was chosen to
gather evidence and listen to hostage
testimony after the 1988 riot/hostage
situation at Coxsackie Correctional
facility. I was also chosen as a hostage
liaison between the hostage negotiating
team and the hostage’s families.
