Organizational Experience
A merican Medical Student Association
(Sept 2009 –present)
Among the basic information presenting abut medical schools, being a
member of this organization has presented me with many different ways to
becoming a better doctor in a very exciting field. The organization consists of
meetings that explain to students about what to expect in the coming years in
t he medical field, what professions are growing, and what would be the
p roper way to becoming accepted at a medical school one day.
Member of the Baylor University Medical Ethics Discussion Society (May
2009- present)
This organization has illustrated to me that sometimes i t takes more to being
a doctor than just t reating a patient. This organization consists of medical
1
speakers from around the state of Texas and discussion groups that illustrate
t he growing conflicts a doctor must deal with when t reating a patient.
W hether i t is due to someone’s religion, conflicts with other doctors, or just
t heir lack of the ability to pay, the organization helps us determine how to
become a better person rather than just a better doctor.
Discussion Leader of the Baylor University Medical Ethics discussion Society
( April 2010- present )
As a discussion leader of the organization, the job requires that I research the
i mportant issues that a physician may come across while practicing medicine,
or even as a premedical student. Once the proper research for an issue is done
t hat the organization as whole considers to be important for discussion, we
administer the information to every member of the group for our weekly
d iscussions. As the leader, I proctor the heated debates and act as a catalyst
w hile allowing the members of the group to discuss how they feel would be
t he best way to go about handling some of the most personal issues that a
person, let alone a doctor. As a discussion leader, it helps develop my
communication skills and the ability to handle constant conflict while also
u nderstanding that there is more than one way to handle a situation.
Member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society ( May
2010-present )
As a member of the fraternity, I have shown to the campus administration
and the heads of the group that I excel in my academics and strive to be the
best student I can be. As a member of the group, one must have a collective
GPA of at least 3.5 and take more than 12 hours a semester. Along with a
g reat academic record, the organization puts a huge amount of work into
community service, many of which I assist in. With this organization, the key
goal of the group is to show that not only are our academics what define a
person, but their actions outside of the classroom as well.
Member of the National Society of Collegiate scholars

A n ational organization that recruits, what they believe, are the best
academically exemplary students in the collegiate system. The organization
believes in creating leaders for tomorrow by teaching them what that means
t oday. Which meetings that consist of building public speaking, positive
r elationships among members, and intellectual enlightenment, the
organization proves to be very important in developing my desire to be a
scholar. Also, the organization gets its members to attend several lectures a
year in order to help fur ther our passion for the fields by which we are
s tudying.
Baylor University Medical Ethics Discussion Society Hospice Committee
(Sept 2011-present)
As a member of the Hospice Commit tee, the job mandates that I help
schedule times with the nearby Hospice service in Waco, TX. Along with
scheduling, I volunteer and assist at said hospice and bring fellow volunteers
t o the building once every other week. As a member of the board, it is
i mportant to understand the field that we are going into is not always a
w inning battle, and the most important thing to consider is the person that
you’re t reating, not just the physical ailment they have. Also, even though the
patient may be in their worst position physically and/ or mentally, they
deserve comfort and company just like any other person.
