TRANSPORTATION AND DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT
The various positions I have had, have now given me the ability to move on to more challenging opportunities
In the field of Transportation and Distribution Management.
HISTORY
FOREMAN-1973 I was production foreman at age 17 on a production line in a non-union atmosphere where
I was responsible for production goals and directly supervising 30 people.
WAREHOUSE TECHNICIAN 1974-1976 I was responsible for shipping and receiving and warehouse
layout of
25,000 sq. ft. distribution center.
ROAD DISPATCHER 1976-1978 I was responsible for routing shipments in the midwest area, scheduling
loads out and coordinating backhauls, assignment of power equipment and trailers, dispatching 20 drivers 5 days
a week,audit driver logs for D.O.T. violations maintain payroll records for 20 road drivers
and 12 city drivers.
TRAFFIC SUPERVISOR 1978-1984 As traffic supervisor for a distribution center shipping 5 milllion lbs
per week, and servicing primarily the Midwest and to some extent the entire 48 states I was responsible for
1) Efficient and accurate routing of all LTL and TL shipments
2) Handling hazardous material air freight shipments both domestic and international
3) Scheduling equipment to move LTL and TL as needed by the distribution center and the customers, including
special delivery services
4) Supervise, train clerical personnel to prepare them for advancement
5) Maintain accurate, efficient paper flow between order entry and warehouse
6) Set up and monitor efficient loading procedures to limit OS & D issues
7) Perform various cost analysis to insure lowest cost method of transportation
8) Conduct quarterly hazardous material audits to insure D.O.T. compliance
9) Negotiate LTL discounts and truckload rates with common, contract, and irregular route carriers
10) Maintain precise delivery schedule to approx. 400 retail outlets in midwest area
11)Assist warehouse with scheduling workload and personnel.
WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR 1985-1986 As warehouse supervisor in a 250,000 sq. ft. union facility I
was
Directly responsible for supervising 10-15 people in all phases of order picking, shipping-receiving, inventory
control, warehouse layout, stock rotation, equipment maintenance and scheduling of 65-70 people in total
covering 2-3 shifts.
WAREHOUSE MANAGER 1986 TO PRESENT As warehouse manager in a 60,000 sq. ft. non union
facility I have been responsible for all phases of ware house management including.
1) Customer Service
2) Shipping-receiving, order picking
3) Warehouse layout and stock rotation
4) Order scheduling and routing
5) D.O.T. and OSHA training and compliance
6)Trailer, building, forklift maintenance
7) Purchasing
8) Driver and warehouse personnel training
9) Driver and warehouse payroll
10)Scheduling container deliveries
EDUCATION
1974 3year graduate from high school
1982 Associate degree from The College Of Advanced Traffic, specializing in Interstate Commerce Law, OS&D,
Transportation Management
Hazardous Material and forklift certified since 1980 including conducting employee training in both.
I am the type of person who believes in always giving 110%. I welcome challenges as a tool for my
improvement. I realize my responsibilities and meet them as needed to attain the desired goals.
I believe that a manager is only as good as the people who work for him/her.
