Served as Human Resources Business Leader for Comcast Corporation in
California, leading and supporting field human resources functions in the
East and North Bay areas with over 1000 employees. Managed all aspects of
employee/labor relations, benefits, training and development, recruiting,
safety, etc. Oversaw three departments (Human Resources, Occupational
Safety, and L&D) comprised of 11 managerial and professional-level
employees; Acted as Area Human Resources Director (2007-2008)

OWENS CORNING (CULTURED STONE PLANT), Napa, California 1998 - 2006
Senior Advanced Human Resources/HR Manager
Oversaw the HR department operations comprised of six HR professionals, and
provided support to 1500 employees at a 24 hour a day, seven day a week,
manufacturing plant. Partnered with plant operations leadership to provide
guidance in employment laws, compensation/benefits, training, recruiting
and positive employment relations.
. Hired over 700 new employees while reducing turnover from 150% to less
than 25%. Developed a competency based screening method that identified
the candidates that could be successful in a very physically demanding
work environment.
. Recipient of two Owens Corning's HR Excellence Awards (2004 and 2005) and
a Global Finance Special Recognition award (2003). These acknowledgments
are awarded only to the top Owens Corning HR professionals who
consistently raise the bar towards World Class Standards during the year.
. Implemented a new hire orientation and mentoring program that helped new
employees reduce quality errors and injuries from an average of 13 per
month to an average of less than one.
. Facilitated several Kaizen/5s events, resulting in increases in the
amount of production from 5 to 40 percent with no capital improvements,
and a labor optimization that resulted in cost savings while increasing
productivity.
. As one of Owens Corning Global Diversity certified
facilitator/instructor, trained over 2500 employees on the concepts and
importance of becoming a truly diverse (inclusive) workforce.
. As a member of the Owens Corning's Labor Relation Committee, used
extensive union avoidance experience to successfully stop several
unionization attempts. Facilitated and led numerous risk assessment
surveys to determine if plants were at risk of unionization.
. Key contributor in the development and implementation of the bilingual
(English/Spanish) hourly employee handbook for the Napa Cultured Stone
Plants.
. Ensured the consistent and timely resolution of employee relation issues,
focusing on consistency and fairness.
. Won 9 out of 9 EEOC charges from disgruntled former employees who were
terminated for cause.
