EXPERIENCE
NIghtWriter93 [2012 - Current]

Teamed with a published author to create a platform for digital publishing
of their back list of successful fiction books. Initiated development of a
new fiction book series and took the leadership for the digital and print
publishing of all new releases. This included development and operation of
two websites and blog site for book promotion.
BobKat Inc. [2005 - 2012]
CEO / COO [Denver, CO]
Acquired, owned and operated a major metro Denver plumbing, heating and
cooling services company. Revenue grew from $2.3M to $3.8M between 2005
and 2008 prior to the recession impacting the metro Denver area.
Commercial sales grew from 10% of the sales to approximately 40% through
improved quality of service delivery and above market project management
leadership. The gross margin for the business improved from 40% to 48% and
EBITDA from 5% to 11% during a very difficult period.
YORK International [1998 - 2005]
Vice President [York, PA]
Recruited by executive management I lead the quality / lean initiative
across the $1.5b, pan American and pan European organization. A major
accomplishment was leading and managing the development and successful
implementation of a $45m customer relationship management system in the 65
location, 1,700 technician commercial HVAC service organizations across
North America. The scope of this effort ranged from national network build
out, software selection and configuration to match newly designed service
processes including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, to user education, training
and call center roll out and 24/7 technical support.
Wernly and Company [1997 - 1998]
Principal / Consultant [Denver, CO]
I provided management consulting to Fidelity Investments and the United
States Postal Service. Major improvement projects at the USPS were on site
at Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Seattle and Atlanta. I
led the debugging and integration of the multi-plant $1b robotic Tray
Management System to improve system reliability and mail delays due to
system failures and misrouting. Fasciitis achieved between a 40% and 90%
reduction to delayed mail and reduction in system maintenance resources.
Exposed cross functional bulk mailing issues and worked to resolve the
issue at one facility. I facilitated a cross functional cross location
team charged with improving first class mail delivery results in a five
state area. The team's charge involved major distribution plant process
redesign in Atlanta, bulk mail sorting at Knoxville and improvements to the
processes at the Atlanta Airport Facility as wells as the mail processing
within the Atlanta Airport itself. We achieved a 25% improvement in over
night one-day mail delivery arrival results in a 5 southeast US state area.
Southern Pacific Lines [1993 - 1997]
Lead Consultant [San Francisco, CA and Denver, CO]
I was brought in by senior management to assist in the financial turnaround
that led to the successful acquisition by Union Pacific Railroad.
Accountability involved the locomotive and railcar operations and
maintenance and train accident and derailment arenas. Accomplishments
included a 90% reduction in the locomotive failure rate simultaneous with a
nearly 25% reduction in preventive maintenance expense. This result
brought about by the introduction of a disciplined maintenance program
focused on reduction in maintenance required events and a reduction in
ineffective locomotive maintenance activity. Similar results occurred in
the train accident and derailment function through improved problem solving
discipline. Led a cross functional team aimed at railcar and power
logistics and scheduling and resulted in improvement to rail car
utilization and power assignment performance.
Tennessee Valley Authority [1991 - 1993]
Chief Quality Officer [Chattanooga, TN]
Recruited by executive management I provided development oversight and
administered a 19 location total quality / lean management system that
ultimately won the Federal Government's first place recognition. Major
projects included a several hundred million dollar rate process improvement
implementation and oversight of employee task and cross functional team
focused on process redesign and problem solving targeting large cost and
chronic service issues.

[Miami and Juno Beach, FL]
Managed plant engineering, technical, environmental, rate making, oil and
gas allocation for efficiency and rate making and safety regulatory
functions, budget for a 12 plant location system that was the 10th largest
in the United States. I provided both technical and maintenance oversight
for wind and solar projects during the last 2 years that led to the
establishment and formalization of independent power generation projects.
I was the internal lead on the power production area's successful challenge
for the Deming Prize, the first non-Japanese company to win the prize and
the lead architect of the initial power generation deregulation strategy
starting in 1985.
General Electric Company [1970-1973]
