Teamed with a published author to create a platform for digital publishing

of their back list of successful fiction books. Initiated development of a

new fiction book series and took the leadership for the digital and print

publishing of all new releases. This included development and operation of

two websites and blog site for book promotion.

BobKat Inc. [2005 - 2012]

CEO / COO [Denver, CO]

Acquired, owned and operated a major metro Denver plumbing, heating and

cooling services company. Revenue grew from $2.3M to $3.8M between 2005

and 2008 prior to the recession impacting the metro Denver area.

Commercial sales grew from 10% of the sales to approximately 40% through

improved quality of service delivery and above market project management

leadership. The gross margin for the business improved from 40% to 48% and

EBITDA from 5% to 11% during a very difficult period.

Recruited by executive management I lead the quality / lean initiative

across the $1.5b, pan American and pan European organization. A major

accomplishment was leading and managing the development and successful

implementation of a $45m customer relationship management system in the 65

location, 1,700 technician commercial HVAC service organizations across

North America. The scope of this effort ranged from national network build

out, software selection and configuration to match newly designed service

processes including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, to user education,training

and call center roll out and 24/7 technical support.

Wernly and Company [1997 - 1998]

Principal / Consultant [Denver, CO]

I provided management consulting to Fidelity Investments and the United

States Postal Service. Major improvement projects at the USPS were on site

at Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Seattle and Atlanta. I

led the debugging and integration of the multi-plant $1b robotic Tray

Management System to improve system reliability and mail delays due to

system failures and misrouting. Fasciitis achieved between a 40% and 90%

reduction to delayed mail and reduction in system maintenance resources.

Exposed cross functional bulk mailing issues and worked to resolve the

issue at one facility. I facilitated a cross functional cross location

team charged with improving first class mail delivery results in a five

state area. The team's charge involved major distribution plant process

redesign in Atlanta, bulk mail sorting at Knoxville and improvements to the

processes at the Atlanta Airport Facility as wells as the mail processing

within the Atlanta Airport itself. We achieved a 25% improvement in over

night one-day mail delivery arrival results in a 5 southeast US state area.

Southern Pacific Lines [1993 - 1997]

Lead Consultant [San Francisco, CA and Denver, CO]

I was brought in by senior management to assist in the financial turnaround

that led to the successful acquisition by Union Pacific Railroad.

Accountability involved the locomotive and railcar operations and

maintenance and train accident and derailment arenas. Accomplishments

included a 90% reduction in the locomotive failure rate simultaneous with a

nearly 25% reduction in preventive maintenance expense. This result

brought about by the introduction of a disciplined maintenance program

focused on reduction in maintenance required events and a reduction in

ineffective locomotive maintenance activity. Similar results occurred in

the train accident and derailment function through improved problem solving

discipline. Led a cross functional team aimed at railcar and power

logistics and scheduling and resulted in improvement to rail car

utilization and power assignment performance.

Tennessee Valley Authority [1991 - 1993]

Recruited by executive management I provided development oversight and

administered a 19 location total quality / lean management system that

ultimately won the Federal Government's first place recognition. Major

projects included a several hundred million dollar rate process improvement

implementation and oversight of employee task and cross functional team

focused on process redesign and problem solving targeting large cost and

chronic service issues.

Florida Power & Light Company [1973 - 1991]

Director of Plant Services, Plant Manager, Supervisor and Plant Engineer

Managed plant engineering, technical, environmental, rate making, oil and

gas allocation for efficiency and rate making and safety regulatory

functions, budget for a 12 plant location system that was the 10th largest

in the United States. I provided both technical and maintenance oversight

for wind and solar projects during the last 2 years that led to the

establishment and formalization of independent power generation projects.

I was the internal lead on the power production area's successful challenge

for the Deming Prize, the first non-Japanese company to win the prize and

the lead architect of the initial power generation deregulation strategy

starting in 1985.

General Electric Company [1970-1973]

Field Engineer and Generator Specialist [Cleveland, OH and Schenectady, NY]

I managed new power plant construction jobs valued at $50m to $250m and

turbine-generator maintenance work across an eight state area. I provided

technical direction on annual ship power and refinery prime mover

turnaround in the northern Ohio area. Lead field maintenance instructor on

large electric generators up to 800 Mw in size.
