TITLE: ANALYSIS OF FLANGE SHAFT FAILURE IN HOPPER OF CONCRETE PUMP

COMPANY NAME: SCHWING STETTER INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, CHENNAI

ABSTRACT: The aim is to analysis flange shaft failure and reducing the

warranty and cost. While assembling the gear box unit to hopper, some gap

is absorbed between the flange (Which is welded with hopper) and gearbox.

For this gap "SHIM" is placed to fulfill the gap. If the gap is not

adjusted, there is a breaking of sealing cone happen where concrete mixture

enter through the broken sealing which make total assembly damage which

means breaking of pinion, sealing cone i.e entire gearbox. Due to this

defect, we are finding solution by designing shaft with respect to bore

diameter which makes the bore on both side in lining and also reject the

use of "shim". Due to this solution, we are reducing warranty cost to 55%

which make a profit for industry and also reducing a time by checking in

incoming itself.
