February 2001 Sr. Industrial Engineer
Shop floor analyst and a production control crib supervisor. On 9/4/00 I was assigned to
the GIVX to do Design to Cost estimates as part of the Integrated Product Team.
Responsible for all the Industrial Engineering activities required supporting the V -22
assembly area. The V-22 is the Navy’s new tilt rotor airplane. The program was started
with an integrated product approach. I was chosen to be on the start up of the program
and have continued through the final assembly of the product.
Responsibility for the Titan IV SRMU missile program, beginning with estimating the
assembly labor hours for the price quote, through the final assembly phase. These
functions were to support engineering change proposals with assembly estimates. Floor
layout for the assembly area with requirements for cranes, air, electrical, worktables and
support equipment required for assembly. Created assembly manpower projections and
assembly waterfall schedules.
Employed by Aerostructures in 1983 as a senior industrial engineer. My first assignment
was on the C5A Mod and C5B wing assembly area. My functions there were the same as
on the Titan program. In addition to the above, I assumed responsibility for the relocation
of the C5B within the plant. This entailed developing an assembly floor layout, planning
a sequence of moves and coordination with support departments to implement the
relocation.
January 1981 - Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, MD
October 1983 Industrial Engineer
A summary of my duties are: Time and motion studies for setting standards, value
analysis, scheduling, manpower loading, line balancing, performance analysis and
reporting, program estimate and completion, targeting and forecasting.
August 1968- Mack Trucks, Inc., Hagerstown, MD
December 1980 Industrial Engineer
Mack Truck is a manufacturer of diesel engines, transmissions, and carriers in a day
workshop. I have worked in many areas throughout the plant. My last project was to
establish and implement machine set-up standards for all machining departments.
Previously I was assigned to the engine assembly for two years and one year to the carrier
assembly department. The task there was to establish production standards, prepare,
implement assembly line balances and conduct monthly manpower analysis per latest
schedule forecasts to properly man the assembly area.
Subsequent to the assembly area, I was assigned for 5 years in the cylinder head,
crankshaft and camshaft machining departments. Some of my functions were to establish
and maintain work standards, prepare cost est imates for justification of new machine
purchases and make trips to vendor plants to check out new machines before acceptance
by Mack.
I also worked in several machining departments throughout the plant, with similar
responsibilities as explained above. During high schedule periods, I worked as a
production supervisor on weekends. This gave the regular supervisors a break and gave
me experience on the floor.
Previous to Mack Trucks I was employed with Fairchild Hiller in the Industrial
engineering department.
Prior to Fairchild I attended Hagerstown Junior College and was employed with the
Washington County Board of Education as a Math and Science teacher.
