New greenfield substation consisting of (3) 345kV circuit breakers, (1) 345/114/23kV 450MVA autotransformer,

and (8) 115kV circuit breakers. This substation is classified as Bulk Power Station. Performed design calculation

and studies. This includes station battery and charger sizing calculation, AC station service system design and

calculations, Rigid bus structure calculation, Control house and yard lighting studies; Prepared equipment

specifications and material lists; Evaluated bid proposal and reviewed vendor approval prints; Performed QA/QC

on drawing submittals which includes one-line, three line diagram, DC schematics, and wiring diagrams

Monroe VAR Support

Monroe, New Hampshire

This is a rebuild project consisting of removal of all HVDC equipment and refurbishing 230kV capacitor and

13.8kV reactor banks with a new control house. Performed design calculation and studies. This includes station

battery and charger sizing calculation, AC station service system design and calculations, Control house and yard

lighting studies; Prepared equipment specifications and material lists; Evaluated bid proposal and reviewed

vendor approval prints. Performed QA/QC on all drawing submittals.

Comerford 230kV Yard Revitalization

Monroe, New Hampshire

Rebuild project consisting of removal of 230kV breakers and disconnect switches and replacing them with new

ones along with a new control house. The station consists of (14) 230kV SF6 circuit breakers, (38) 230kV motor

operated disconnect switches arranged in (4) bays in a breaker and half scheme. Performed station battery and

charger sizing calculation, AC station service system design and calculations; Designed and reviewed outdoor

substation equipment layout and control house electrical arrangement; Control house and yard lighting studies;

Prepared equipment specifications and material lists; Evaluated bid proposal and reviewed vendor approval prints;

Performed QA/QC on drawing and design submittals.

Hoosac Substation

Hoosac, MA

This is a wind farm collector station supplied by 69kV line. Generation from the wind turbines is injected into the

substation at 34.5kV. The wind farm is connected to the grid via 26/33/37MVA, 69/34.5/13.8 kV power

transformer and 69kV circuit breaker. The protection relays for 69kV line, 69kV circuit breaker and associated

disconnect switches are owned by National Grid. The rest of substation equipment are owned and operated by

wind farm developer. Designed line protection and breaker control scheme; Prepared equipment specifications

and material lists; Evaluated bid proposal and reviewed vendor approval prints; Performed QA/QC of drawing

and design submittals.

Ridgewood 124 Switchyard

Johnston, RI

This station is operated at 115kV with13.8kV generation interconnection by the Johnston Combined Cycle plant with a total

output of 65MW. There are three (3) 115kV dual trip-coil SF6 circuit breakers. Each 115kV SF6 breaker has disconnects on

either side. The 115kV switchyard is arranged in a three breaker ring bus configuration with two (2) line positions. A third

position connects to GSU transformer. Performed design calculation and studies; Prepare conceptual and secondary drawing

package; Performed QA/QC of drawing and design submittals; Provided construction support.

NSTAR

Kendall Square Substation

Boston, MA

Removal project consisting of several 13.8kV breakers connected to the feeder bus identified as H, Q, K, and N.

NSTAR has removed H, K & Q 13.8 kV switchgear buses at Station 850 Kendall and will be removing N Bus

Section. Vanderweil is providing engineering and design services needed to support the removal of all related

control cables and equipment from the Main Control Boards, Relay Panels, and SCADA Cabinet. Performed

drawing mark-up and QA/QC for submittals; Provided construction note on the removal drawing as necessary.

Station No. 110

Boston, MA

This is circuit breaker replacement project. Provided engineering and design services needed to support the

replacement of 15 qty. of 25kV oil circuit breaker with vacuum circuit breakers. Prepared a complete conceptual

and wiring package. This has included wiring for remote alarm, status, and control. Performed QA/QC on

drawing submittals

IBERDROLA USA

Substation Automation Assessment

This is a substation automation project. The scope of the project is to assess the state of automation of the

substation relative to the Iberdrola, USA technical requirement. Budget estimates are to be prepared with adequate

supporting documentation in the form of drawings, bills of material, text and milestone schedules to define the

scope of the project and the steps needed to bring the station into conformance with utility’s technical standard. Visited

several substations to assess the state of automation and the constraints to bring the station into conformance with

the technical standard. Prepared a report with the assessment describing the work required to bring the station

into conformance as outlined in the standard. The task has included preparation of supporting drawings, budget

estimates, bill of material, and milestone schedule.

Wood Street Substation

Mohapac, NY

The general scope of this project is to install a third (Bank 3) 345-115kV, 150/200/250(280) MVA transformer

with LTC and operate the unit in parallel with the two existing 345-115kV, 150/200/250(280) MVA transformers.

The scope also includes the installation of five 115kV circuit breakers and associated disconnect switches, one

345kV motor operated disconnect switch, one line trap and carrier set, 345/115kV instrument transformers, and

the associated system protection and control equipment. Provided conceptual engineering and design for the

substation additions; prepared an updated report for system protection requirement; Studied and evaluated AC and

DC station service; Prepared supporting drawings for 345kV and 115kV yard layout and control house layout;

Prepared budget estimates and bill of material.

Concord Substation Modernization

Kiamesha, NY

The purpose of this project is to bring the Concord station into compliance with the requirements of

IBERDROLA, USA Criteria for Substation Engineering Design. The substation modernization requires

replacement of the existing 3-1phase, 34400- 5040/8720Y V, 2500 kVA transformer with 1- 3phase 14MVA,

34.5-4.8kV transformer, installation of three (3) new 34.5 kV, 1200A SF6 circuit breakers; five (5) new 34.5

kV, 1200A motorized disconnect switches with position status indicators. Performed detail engineering and

design; Prepared a report for updated project scope (Engineering notes) and system protection requirement;

AC and DC station service studies and calculation; Prepared equipment specifications and material lists;

Studied and evaluated substation integration; Prepared RTU/SCADA point list; Performed QA/QC on drawing

submittals which includes main one-line diagram, relay and metering one line diagram, three line diagram, and

Relay and control panel layout.

DANVERS MUNICIPAL LIGHT DEPARTMENT

South Danvers Substation

Danvers, MA

The general scope of the project is to study and prepare the detailed technical report for the outage event on

March 12, 2012 in reference to direct transfer trip (DTT) received from National Grid (NGRID) on B-154S line.

Reviewed both the NGRID and DMLD system information along with a preliminary outage report prepared by

NGRID; Reviewed the drawing and checked wiring; Presented a technical report with a proposal to mitigate the

outage with design changes; provided engineering and design to modify the schematic and wiring; Performed

QA/QC on drawing submittals

VEOLIA ENERGY NORTH AMERICA

Medical Area Total Energy Plant

Boston, MA

13.8kV feeder reconfiguration project. Performed load flow and short circuit study of present system and

proposed configuration. Field surveyed the existing wiring of all the feeders to be affected in the new system

configuration. Prepared/revised the elementary and wiring drawings to support the reconfiguration.

NORTHEAST UTILITIES

West Side 7A Substation

Middletown, CT

This is an obsolete equipment replacement project. The scope includes the replacement of (two) 115kV motor-

operated line disconnect switches and manually operated line grounding switches, (two) 115kV manually

operated breaker isolation disconnect switches, (two) 115kV line traps, and (twenty two) 115kV cap and pin

insulators. Provided engineering and design services which includes preparation of procurement specification,

reviewed vendor prints, mark-up the affected drawings for removal and additions, Revised material list and

conduit/cable schedule, performed QA/QC on drawing submittals

HIMAL POWER LIMITED

Khimti I Hydropower Project

Dolakha, Nepal

Khimti I is a 60MW Hydropower plant located in rural Nepal. The project has underground power house

consisting of five generating units, each with 12MW capacity. The project has 132kV outdoor switchyard with a

fully automatic control house. Performed design calculation and studies. This includes station battery and charger

sizing calculation, AC station service system design and calculations, grounding and shielding, rigid bus structure

calculation; Designed and supervised electro-mechanical installations; Verified technical specification of electrical

system and updated the design; Supervised testing and commissioning and witnessed factory test of control

equipment; Provided technical and managerial support in power plant operation.
