extrusions, spinnings.
Fabrication processes: CNC and manual punching, CNC and manual bending,
spot welding, PEM hardware and rivets.
o Introduced SolidWorks 3D software, improving accuracy, assembly ease,
reducing prototypes and scrap.
o Designed and built tools used in fabrication and assembly, addressing
problems with new and existing products.
o Performed nearly all detail design in complete re-design of Videssence's
Powerkey line of video studio fixtures.
o Performed nearly all detail design of the ExceLED series, and other
Videssence LED products.
o Videssence unit made record sales in 2011 after the above improvements
and new LED introductions.
Tooling Supervisor
Ducommun Aerostructures, Monrovia, CA. 8/7/2006 to 2/9/2007
Aerospace subcontractor specialized in complete flight hardware assemblies
utilizing bonded composite fabrication techniques. Products include Apache,
Carson-Sikorsky and Bell helicopter rotor blades, C17 spoilers and winglets
for Boeing 737 and Hawker. Duties included direct supervision of 7
toolmakers maintaining hundreds of tools for operations, serving the
Process Engineering group with revisions and making new tools, interfacing
with management of all production departments, managing workflow to support
needs of production, ordering material, assisted process engineering and
estimating. Participated in Kaizen events.
Manufacturing Manager/Supervisor
Lighting Parts, Inc. / Totally Tubular 'N More. Los Angeles, CA. 9/99 -
11/05.
This company was a metal fabricator and importer, its history in lighting
components. I was hired because of my broad experience to help the company
gain general metal fabrication work. Our core skills were fabricating
tubular parts: cutting, bending, beading and thread rolling/thread cutting,
using steel, aluminum and brass material. Duties: shop supervision,
fabrication management, 2D drafting, procedure planning with BOMs,
estimating and procurement of materials, tools and supplies. Directed nine
people.
o Designed and built special tools. Solved problems with expensive cutting
and bending equipment purchased by management but not used by prior
supervision, and utilized this equipment to reduce labor and expand our
capabilities.
o Organized, planned, estimated and managed projects using these new
capabilities, and outside suppliers to successfully gain work in non-
lighting projects to replace our decreasing volume in lighting
components.
o Trained our people to work to a level of accuracy which they were not
capable of before, and to use the newly utilized equipment, enabling us
to capture work previously out of reach.
o Designed and implemented a quality system with documentation to satisfy
the requirements of an ISO 9001 certified customer.
