PROJECT:

QUALITY INSPECTION OF STEEL PRODUCTS USING

SCANNING MICRON ELECTROSCOPE (SEM) IMAGES

The project presents a Texture based approach for detecting and

characterizing defects on steel surfaces, through which the quality

inspection of steel products is performed. The image sets to be

examined for test and training process have been captured by a

Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).Our objective is to detect the

defects in the surface of steel products. The major defects like

corrosion, crack, scratch and fracture are considered for testing and

training process. Inorder to find and classify the defects DWT based

Laws mask method is proposed. The feature values obtained for test and

training images are considered for the accuracy assessment which is

done based on the minimum distance obtained by taking Sum of Squared

Distance (SSD).
