Aug 2003 – Present Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Undersea Warfare Electromagnetic Systems

Division

The Undersea Warfare Electromagnetic Systems Division is the Department of

the Navy organization responsible for acquisition, installation, maintenance, and

research for communications, electronic warfare, and imaging.

• Software Engineer in charge of integration testing of the ES system leading a 6

man test team in integration efforts with other submarine systems

• Chairman of the trouble report adjudication board that reviewed, investigated,

and recommended fix priorities for the ES program

• Lead Software Engineer for the external interface between the ES system and

other submarine subsystems

• Lead effort to reduce the number of deployed software baseline versions from

16 on 24 deployed systems to 3 versions on 46 deployed systems gaining

reduced cost in testing, simplified field support, and improved the

development processes

Jun 1999 – Aug 2003 Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Sensors and SONAR Systems Division

The SONAR Systems Division is the navy’s principle Sonar research facility

developing the next generation of submarine sonar systems, trainers, simulators

and other related equipment.

• As the Senior Software Developer and onsite Information Technology

Specialist architected and lead IT development for a large prototype intrusion

detection system leading a team of 4 developers.

• Graphical User Interface designer for a Sonar Trainer that would allow the navy

to train operators on a laptop. The design required the development of twelve

displays that mimicked the real displays of the Sonar system.

• Developer working on Simulation and Stimulation Systems for the Virginia Class

Submarine. I developed graphical user interfaces, network interfaces, and

algorithms to either simulate equipment not present or to exercise equipment

under test.

Jan 1994 – Jun 1999 Various Non-Engineering positions in Greensboro and Jacksonville NC

I have been a resident assistant for two years while attending North Carolina

Agricultural and technical State University. There I mentored other students

while at school. I was an intern with the Veteran Administration’s Vocational

Rehab unit at Camp Lejeune helping service members with disabilities to get

counseling and other assistance in transitioning from the service for two years. I

also work for Lowes Home Improvement Store as a gardening specialist.

Jun 1981 - Jan 1994 United States Marine Corps World Wide Service

Marine Communications Specialist with the rank of sergeant and was deployed

to Japan, Philippines, and Korea and worked with local military personal. Lead

squad of 13 Marine communications specialists. Equipment used in the field and

garrison included HF, VHF, and UHF Radios, GPS and other Position Location

systems, field fax machines, and computers.
