Designed and managed new projects with budgets up to $15 million. Conducted testing to evaluate new equipment and processes. Installed new production lines while meeting all time and budget commitments.
• Supported launch of new product line by directing vendors and contractors installing conveyors and production equipment for new $79 million Gas Flush line in world’s largest mozzarella plant.
- Equipment included shredders, fillers, vertical form, fill and seal machines, case loaders and through to case tape and seal, scale, metal detector and the palletizers.
- Identified problem areas, engineering solutions real-time to drive the project forward.
- Ensured satisfaction of plant management team by being on site from start-up through debug, and into full production. Provided technical assistance and training to plant staff throughout process.
- Project won a Gina, the highest Leprino award, for on-time and on-budget completion.
• Doubled plant QLC capability by installing second line in world’s largest mozzarella plant, encompassing box makers, conveyors, bag inserters, cheese conveyors, dicers and filler.
• Improved reliability of Adco box makers through redesign, raising rate to 23 boxes per minute.
• Delivered higher speed and lowered operating cost while greatly improving sanitation benefits for all plants with new dicers. This was the result of testing prototype Urschel and FAM high speed dicers. Tested during production, recording cut quality, maintenance, expendable tooling, and operating costs.
• Resolved chain breakage problem on a Spiral Conveyor by adding an encoder and new controls strategy to monitor system. Solved problem immediately, saving over $2,500 per month in parts and labor and eliminating potential food safety issues.
• Trained Food Safety and Sanitation engineer. Evaluated and modified existing equipment for sanitation problem areas, and designed new equipment to meet stringent USDA Dairy standards. Helped develop “Gold Standard” designs for conveyors and equipment for install in all future Leprino plants. Experienced and successful at finding microbiological hazards and eliminating them.
• Minimized lost production time of high demand cheese product by implementing $15 million ceiling to floor rework of the Processing and Production areas of plant during 12 scheduled down days. This project eliminated microbiological problem areas – eliminating hits in these areas.
• Enabled new product launch by designing and installing a $12 million Vemag string cheese line in a California plant. Designed $15 million sanitation upgrades for a New Mexico plant.
