November 2011 - Current (To be ended on August 20): Contracting Sr. I&C
engineer at DOE AREVA/Shaw MOX Project, Aiken SC
I am responsible for designing and developing (15) Nuclear Systems at this
$7 billion dollars project, this new facility will convert excess plutonium
into nuclear power plant fuel.
I have designed control system requirements, updated 300 sheets of P&ID,
prepared a control systems descriptions, created and updated architecture,
control logics, schematics, prepared component and systems procurement
specifications, prepared instrument list, I/O list, LOOP diagram, wiring
diagrams, integrated with SCADA software, and prepared design of the hard
wired safety system. I interface with mechanical, chemical, and software
people for the progress of the system. I also managed vendor submittals,
interfaced with regulatory agency for the approval of the procedure, design
and documents. And project management. I am proficient in AutoCAD,
Microstation, INtool, smart plant tools. Our customer is the NNSA; we need
to meet all IEEE and DOE requirements.
February 1993 - October, 2011: WRPS, CH2MHILL, Lockheed Martin, Boeing
Computer, Richland, WA (One job but different DOE contractor employers at
Hanford)
Engineer (Principal, Project Engineer, etc.)
I have been a system engineer and design authority of electrical, control
system for nuclear waste tank farm and nuclear laboratory systems. In
electrical side, I developed and managed the replacement of new power and
HVAC control system for a 50 years old plant with new system, including
building a new 13.8KV/480V substation, plant upgrade, HVAC heater
conversion from gas to electrical power, and replaced the HVAC control
system. I resolved the power loss and ended (75) days of power loss. Build
new system, calculate power using SKM, power quality calculate and
monitoring, and rebuild the entire substation and switching gear.
As a lead project engineer, provided SOW, specification, define system
configurations, lead product development, manage subcontractors, resources,
make project and engineering decisions, construction, perform field work
and testing for mechanical, electrical, automation, software and data
management systems.
Responsible for the Control systems definition, design, construction, A/E
management, installation, testing, and field support, including system
definition, system architecture, software, hardware, wiring,
communications, and data system design with HMI, PLC, Field bus
Communication Protocols, and Plant Database systems using several control
hardware, software platforms.
Programming HMI, PLC, Historian software such as Citect, RSView, RSLogix
500/5000, OPC, IIS, MSMQ, Plant2Business historian, and SQL, ControlNet,
DeviceNet, Modbus, Ethernet communications protocols. Experienced in
Windows programming and programming languages C++, VB, and SQL used in
automatic control, real time data acquisition, and data storage systems.
Reviewed and prepared higher tier engineering documents and drawings
related to the Control Systems engineering discipline, including System
Requirement Document, Design Descriptions, Software Plan, design standard
etc. to communicate with team members, or team companies to provide
uniformity and standards in control systems design.
Supervision of software implementation team, coordination with other
engineering disciplines, reviewed project design criteria, vendor
drawings/manuals, Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P & IDs) and Mechanical
System Descriptions to determine control and instrumentation functional
requirements, Implemented Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program.
Developed and maintained requirement and configuration management databases
using DOORS.
Represented all engineers for the re-engineering efforts and performed Re-
Engineering for the organization.
1986 - 1992 McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) Long Beach, CA
Engineer (Senior, Specialist)
Performed MD-11/ MD-90 aircraft flight control, guidance and navigation
systems, design, installation, integration, and testing. Coordinated with
FAA regulators and airline customers.
Performed design through certification completeness as systems engineer,
and systems integration engineer. Tested and validated Flight systems in
the Flight Simulator, initiate changes in Avionics, Flight Controls, and
other systems design, software changes, and at flight test site to complete
the project certification for final MD-11 delivery.
Developed T-45 NAVY training airplane FRACAS systems to the NAVY 3M
requirements. Coordinated with PUX River test center for system
requirements, and developed the database in Nomad. Performed R&M FMECA,
FHA, and Fault Tree Analysis. Tracked every T-45 components design and R&M
data.
Integrated systems specifications, prepared ICD, performed hardware
software integration, algorithm verification, project management and
electrical wiring harness design.
Other Experiences
Engineer (Senior) Pertec computer Chatsworth, CA Engineer (Senior) Allied
Signal (Honeywell) Torrance, CA Engineer (Senior, Project, Staff) Smith
International Irvine, CA
Brought new computer hard disk from design to production.
Represented company to Toyota, Nissan in Japan to mitigate the customer
quality complaints, and implemented corrective countermeasures. Efforts
improved the customer satisfaction, improved product design, manufacturing
methods and mitigated quality problems.
Designed manufacturing tooling, developed manufacturing process for the
well-equipped heavy-duty machine shop making oil-drilling equipments.
Performed Operations Research models for shop floor control process,
product reliability evaluations, developed Monte Carlo model for product
operating optimization for the most reliable and economical oil drilling,
and copy righted the models.
