Innovations of Brevard (July 2012 to present) I started an
LLC in pursuit of new business for small midsize companies in
the training, simulation and aerospace industry. BDI of
Brevard offers companies that wish independent business
development pursuit and capture without the burden of
significant up-front investment. BDI has a vast portfolio of
contacts and opportunities both domestic and internationally
based. At this time the company has two clients.
VP of Business Development Merlin Simulation (Feb.-Dec. 2012)
Merlin is a small Training and Simulation company that sought
domestic and international growth. I established an extensive
set of global opportunities which are actively being pursued
and captured by Merlin at this time. The assignment was
temporary give their funding constraints. It was my desire to
use this opportunity as a spring board to establish in a non-
compete manner, my own business development consulting company
now known as Business Development Innovations of Brevard.
Business Development Manager - International Programs (Present-
2005 to 2012) I left Lockheed Martin, seeking employment
in Florida. I was quickly hired by Rockwell Collins Simulation
and Training (S & T) responsible for the initiation,
development and exploration of international opportunities for
Military Training and Simulation (NAVAIR/SEA, PEOSTRI, AF). I
was the principal force behind the initiation of the
International T & S business opportunities in the Middle East
and Asia. (Responsible for the development of all aspects the
pursuit) Identifying the market / market strategy, customers
and customer requirements up to and to Include win strategies
and capture management / proposal development. Types of
product offerings:
Avionics training and simulation for fixed and rotary wing
devices, ground systems training and simulation, training
systems from instructor led training, CBT ( computer based
training)/ FTD's (flight training devices) to highly complex
(FFS) full flight simulators. I specialized in developing
partnerships and alliances. I am knowledgeable of offset and
international rules and regulations to include compliance with
ITAR requirements. I have extensive experience and strong
cultural familiarity in the Middle East, Asia and South
America.
IP Mining, Technology Incubation and Exploitation
(2003- 2005 - Lockheed Martin)
Responsible for providing leadership and direction with the
purpose of enhancing LMC's ( Lockheed Martin Companies' )
relationship with national laboratories and other centers of
technical competence. Capture technology that will improve
LMSI-O's business unit capabilities and revenue stream.
Provide business development and technical support to the site
business units as part of the Aerospace Solutions Technology
Development Charter - Management of LMSI-O Aerospace
Technology Investment Program.
Marketing / Business Development (1996 to 2003-
Lockheed Martin Corp/Loral/IBM. Note: During this
period IBM sold the IBM Federal Systems Division to
Loral in 1996. Loral held the division for 2 years and
then sold it to Lockheed Martin in 1998. I remained in
the company in the assignments mentioned below during
these transitions)
Note: Responsible for establishing Military products
and applications into new commercial
opportunities for Lockheed Martin
described below:
Intellectual Property Management (1998-2003) This
activity involved the "ground-up" development of a
new organization including an international market
and the associated licensing / DOC and (Department of
Commerce) approvals. Successes were achieved in
obtaining outside investors and partnerships.
Areas of technology development were:
. TMOS Display Technology- flexible flat panel displays
. Real-Time CORBA - Middleware Software
. Product Development - Massively Parallel Processor
. 40 GB+ Encryption / denial of service technology
. Ad Hoc Network Security
All of these Technologies were successfully spun out
of Lockheed Martin with various returns on investment
specific to each product.
Business Development (1996-2003 concurrent with above)
Responsible for revitalizing new AEW (Airborne Early Warning)
business opportunities ranging from $1.0 M to 150 M in sales
using an internally developed CORBA Product. This activity
involved traditional new business and marketing activities
such as understanding the market, customer needs and wants,
establishing a strategic marketing plan, forming new business
partnerships, developing and negotiating new business
proposals.
Sr. Program Manager (1988 to 1996 - IBM Federal
Systems)
Program Manager for the B1B, UAR (unattended Radar),
AWACS, and RTAIS (Real Time Associate Information
System) programs - managing development and
production activities. All of these Programs were
associated with multi-year revenue opportunities
exceeding $75M each. AWACS was the largest program
in Federal Systems at the time of my leadership.
1. Responsible for establishing statements of work
for production and development contracts,
selecting and managing new business proposals,
and assuring that the specifications and
customer requirements are met.
2. Responsible for the management of cost,
schedule, configuration and performance
of the major subsystems.
3. Responsible for the management and technical
direction of various IRAD projects involving
computer processing technology and its
associated disciplines.
4. Responsible for the management of the
aforementioned programs, compliance to FAR/DAR,
corporate principles and practices, corporate
guidelines, import / export regulations and
various customer imposed contract requirements
necessary to run a business area.
5. Personnel management as a middle manager within
corporate guidelines and directives.
Procurement Manager (1988 to 1985 - IBM Federal
Systems)
Middle manager responsible for the procurement and
business strategy associated with the purchase of
electronic components for the entire Federal Systems
Division.
(Greater than a $1 B procurement base)
6. Supplier base of greater than 500 domestic and
international suppliers
