Joy Michelle Lowe SUMMARY
P.O. Box ** I hold certifications as a CPMA (Certified Professional
Canada, Ky. 41519 Medical Auditor) through AAPC, Certified Medical
Home # 606-***-**** Coder through AHIMA, and am a Licensed Practical
Cell # 304-***-**** Nurse as well. I have been a nurse for 20 years and
ab2wbw@r.postjobfree.com have spent the last 15 years as a Nurse Chart Auditor
that also specialized in compliance. There was a
company wide layoff in April 2012, and I decided to
use this opportunity to further my education and to
better myself by attaining my certifications as a
Medical Coder and Professional Auditor. I am excited
to have the opportunity to use my skills to be an
effective and valuable team player in this company. I
am very “dogmatic” about “getting it right the first time”
and searching out and implementing problem
resolutions. I pay close attention to detail and am very
goal oriented even in my personal life. I live my life
with integrity and work hard so that everything I do
and say reflect that. I am very committed and can
always be taken at my word. I enjoy working with
people and strongly believe that our community is
worth investing our time and resources
into. My husband and I are the pastors of Matthew
28:19 Ministries in downtown Williamson, WV. I
organize all ministries and micro manage all of our
volunteers and leaders. I would love an opportunity to
interview for this position and am very up for a
challenge.
EXPERIENCE

Nurse Medical Chart Auditor/Contract employee
October 2008-April 2012 Company wide layoff
April 28, 2012
Job responsibilities included:
I performed an integrity audit of the

appropriate documentation of all tests and
procedures that were ordered by the
physician, and completed as well as
appropriate billing practices as per
medicare guidelines.

completed with high ethical and
professional standards and all findings of
deficits were communicated to each
department manager.
I did stay informed on all medicare changes
that affected coding and charging
practices within the facility and did share
these changes with the CFO, Business
Office Manager, and Medical Coding
Supervisor to ensure correct billing
procedures were followed.
I held monthly department manager
meetings where I provided a spreadsheet
that reflected missed charges or
overcharges or documentation errors for
the month and suggested an action plan.
Also acted as a Defense Auditor
representing the hospital defending
charges that were being challenged by
insurance companies and most outcomes
of the audit were in the hospitals favor.

months, it was decided to not pursue the
pheresis on mobile blood drives due to
cost effectiveness, and I was brought in
center as a pherisis operator/supervisor
and blood drive supervisor.
I was responsible for supervising all
aspects of the mobile blood drive and in
center donation process. This included
making sure all paperwork was completed
accurately by the donor and the employee
because if not accurate, as a result, the unit
of blood or platelets would be discarded.

for the blood products to ensure it would
arrive in the processing lab in lexington, ky
within a particular time frame as per

This was a wonderful job that I enjoyed
very much as I am a people person. I was

the decision to return to that position.

regarding the infusion therapy charges that
the staff was responsible for.
