CAREER OBJECTIVE
I am interested in teaching foreign language (Spanish) and using my multi-
cultural knowledge and command of the language, to apply them in the
classroom to develop the foreign language skills of my students. I also
want to use my own travel experience, acquired through the years of service
of my husband's Army career, to illustrate and share the importance of
learning a language and its culture, as well as expand the scholastic
horizons of my students and connect their knowledge to other disciplines.

o BA in Business, Troy State University, Columbus, Georgia, Campus.

Virginia Certification in Spanish K to 12.
Washington DC Certification in Spanish K to 12.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
During my husband's career I have traveled and worked in many different
places with my family:
2010- 2013 Taught Spanish I, Grades 6, 7 & 8, at Deal Middle School,
DC, Mr. Albright, Principal.
. Helped develop curriculum for IB program for Spanish Level
I, maintained records of all students and had close
communication with parents and counselors.
. Kept parents informed of students' progress using Ed-line,
conducting conferences with parents and students, and kept
students for tutoring after and before school.
Participated in Open House, International Night, Film
Festival, worked with fellow teachers on planning events
for our foreign language students, came on weekends to do
fund raising to help our students with scholarships to go
to Peru and Costa Rica.
. Attended department meetings, cafeteria duty and hall duty,
in order to help maintain discipline in the school.
. Had a club for students after school twice a month. The
school also offered different activities monthly, called
Viking Time; I offered Salsa Dancing to 15 girls every
month. I also covered classes and planned for other co-
workers, as needed, and took care of other teacher's
tutoring, if any conflicts arose.

. Had a club after school; met students during lunch for
tutoring and after school.
. Worked closely with other core-teachers and coaches. Sent
grades every advisory.
2007-2009 Taught Spanish I, Grades 8, 9, & 10, Fairfax County Schools,

. Planned curriculum with co-workers, conducted PALS
(Proficiency Assessment for Language), both writing and
speaking.
. Had parents and students come in to my classroom for
cultural celebrations.
. Maintained records and sent reports for every advisory;
conducted parent conferences and tutoring, as needed.
. .Additional Duties included: co-sponsor of the Latino
Club, organized parade for students.
. Worked with graduation committee and chaperoned the dance.
2006-2007 Taught Spanish I and Humanities, Grades 7-9, Deal Middle

. Additional Duties included: Spanish Club sponsor, travel
counselor to Costa Rica, worked with department on fund
raising. Had students participate in school performance.

2002-2004 Taught Spanish II, III, and IV, Grades 10-12, Moanalua High
School, Honolulu, Hawaii.
. Additional duties included: Spanish Club Advisor, Home Room
Teacher (10th and 12th Grades), and Chaperone, coordinate
events for student fund raising, took students for cultural
experience to a restaurant, Evita/theater play.
. Students created a Newspaper in Spanish, students
contributed with web site portfolios for the end of the
year presentation on poetry, festivities, food and culture
learned from Spanish-speaking countries.
2002. Taught ESL and SFA Reading, Grades 1-5, Kahala Elementary,
Leilehua, Hawaii
[while waiting for Spanish position; we were stationed in Hawaii
four years].
. The most important challenge was to nurture these students
and make them feel at home and develop their confidence in
learning a new language.
1999-2001 Taught Spanish I, II, Grades 9-12, South View High School,
Fayetteville, North Carolina.
